Well some of us donate to our favorite charities now. But being able to add a few zeros to the check would have been nice. I have seen very few people believe they are creating good karma for a lottery win by promising to donate some of the winnings to charity. You can judge their sincerity by asking them if they donate to these same charities now. If they do not give of their time or money now, it is unlikely they would give any if they hit it big.

No they were just daydreaming about stuff they could do if they did won because they could afford it.....It has nothing to do with karma....karma comes from actions not thinking about your actions, and no you don't have to win the lottery to do acts of kindness.....but boy does it help....LOL Stop being so cynical son....that's bad karma too...

No body ever promised anything but a lot people were talking about the acts of kindness they plan to do if they won. I think they was just trying to create some good Kama in hope that it was bring them luck, but it didn't work because you don't have to win a lottery to do an act of kindness if you're for real.

I give more than I can really afford to throughout the year, but I would give away a very large portion of the money if I won, if not the majority of it.

Some specific things I'd do:

- buy properties for all of the nonprofits myself and my friends work with, so they could afford to hire more people and do more good.

- start a shelter for LGBT women under 21, and offer drop-in services for queer women 21+

- start a scholarship for foster kids at the college I attend

Part of my jackpot plan is to create an oasis for pets in need of a home. I LOVE animals. Granted, I could not take care of ALL of the animals in the world that need homes, I would create an animal sanctuary. Remember if you are paying overdue bills (cars, homes, heat), if the person is out of a job, they will be in the same situation soon enough again. Remember you can give someone a fish or teach them how to fish.

Pay off everyone's layaway a few weeks before Christmas (locally, of course).

Start a 'pay-it-forward' campaign in my local town (and try like hell to keep my name a secret). Go to local businesses and pay them for their services for a day so people could eat/get their car washed/etc. for free. On that day, any participating business would put pay it forward on their sign. See if that would have an effect on the general attitude of the town. It'd be great to do at Christmas time.... I would definitely help out the schools I went to, as they helped me a lot throughout the years... My son had/has to see an endocrine specialist so I would like to try to donate for further research in the matter, or set up scholarships for those studying that field... Other random acts of kindness.... Pay it forward!!! There have been quite a few to help me out and I'd like to return the favor more than I am able to now...

When I was in the hospital having a cancerous tumor removed from my leg, I never saw anyone asking if I needed any help. As soon as I was home recovering I got plenty of phone calls from people collecting money to help cancer patients but when I ask where could I apply for some of that help since I was a recovering cancer patient, they either hung up or told me to contact the cancer society and then hung up.

I give to charity now, Childrens Hospital of Michigan, Salvation Army, Gleaners Food bank, Purple Heart, Wounded Warriors.

Would I give extra to them, yes, My main priority would be family and friends, college trust funds for every member of my family.

There are all kinds of things you can do.

Pay for someone's gas or groceries that you see at the store.

Help an animal rescue that sends out calls for emergency funds.

Put $100 in the Salvation Army's Christmas bucket outside Walmart.

Go to the discount stores in August when school clothes and supplies buying time, and hand out $100 to random people with kids in tow.

Donate a truck load of school supplies to a school in the poor section of town or a small rural farming commun... [ More ]

What are some random acts of kindness do you think you would do if you won this money i.e. 550 million dollars?? These are a couple I have come up with.......

1. Go to local hospital billing dept. and ask to pay their most deliquent or close to collections accounts...of course without needed to know the person's personal info or even them knowing you did it..

2. Go to power company and do the same thing as above...

3. Go to an apartment building and pay everyone's rent for the year
