Isn't this a sort of 'so what' situation?

Seems to me that if I got hung up on 'odds' everytime I choose numbers to play, as suggested by my tracking charts, I'd hang it up and go watch TV.

What I need is a useful answer to the 'what's next' question, regardless of or despite the odds.

I don't know about Missouri, but here in Florida, when you do a partial QP. To the right of the QP will be the number of quickpicks you chose, Q3 or Q5.All the QP's after the 5 values makes me believe the ticket was a quickpick. If I could scan one of my losing tickets, I would do it.

Assuming the RNG selects any five of 5,006,386 combinations, the odds of having three lines using the same number depend on the random selection process so I doubt will find the odds that way. One number could be on all five lines and be a no show on the next 294 five line tickets. We can check all of the results in the 59 number matrix and see how many times one number was drawn three time in five consecutive drawings and divide that number by the total drawings to give us the percentage.

Very good answer, Stack. All these games have the bi-product of permutation in common. So, it's actually a good thing to have repeat numbers, in my opinion, because that's how matching combinations are produced in the first place. Also, I like your point of a single ticket being shown which contains the winning line. There is no shame in acknowledging you don't have a clue how to estimate the percentage of self picks.

That's very old news and the same old flippant answer on their web site when the ticket price was only a $1. They could tell us the exact QP to self pick ratio on every drawing, the exact jackpot winning ratio, and the exact 5 + 0 winning ratios, but they don't. If the QPs are distributed randomly as they claim, I wouldn't expect to get 10 QPs with 50 different numbers. The drawings are random too so just look at the number distribution of any 10 drawings and it should be similar to 10 QPs.

If anything, you should learn that just because they show the winning ticket it doesn't mean the winner only bought one ticket. We know for a fact this winner bought at least five tickets and your guess is as good as mine if he bought more tickets.

The only other logical comment is the next time you say it only takes one ticket remember the winning line was the third line. And only the winner knows if he bought 9 or 90 more $10 tickets, all with a third line.
