Powerball had a way better year than mega millions. One jackpot for the record is all mega millions could muster in 12 months because the mega millions will not be that high bye the end of the year. Powerball ruled 2012 with 2 $200 million plus jackpots and 2 $300 million plus jackpots not mega millions. Who cares if it is a dollar to play. I agree, powerball is a terrible game at $2 with a $40M starting jackpot. I am not playing powerball like I used to.

The PB ticket is twice as much so the jackpots should be two time higher. PB starts at $40 million so their jackpots should average over $100 million.

And at the end of 11 months and one week into the year the score in jackpots paid out is Powerball 11 and Mega Millions 12.

I think it's the MM website says that it averages 2 to 15 jackpots a year.
