I hear your pain loud and clear. This whole scratch off is so merky and shadowy. People need to stop playing so lottery commission is forced to think ways to make it more transparent and palatable.

I hate scratch offs too and won't play them. I'm not sure if all states are the same, but in Michigan, the lottery website lists what prizes are left. There are millions of dollars never won that go back to the school fund. (Michigan's lottery profits go to the schools...another joke in it of itself)

It is in the lottery's best interest NOT to have winners found as they still make profits of the millions of losing tickets sold and still don't have to award the top prizes.

Your scratchers are tough like NY. Have family in the jacksonville,nc area and played there. Also tried Emerald Isle and Surf City. Biggest win was $40. I see alot of your winners are in the Raleigh area. At-least your lotto of has alot of second chance and bonus draws.

A relative won $5k/week for life on a $10 scratcher. No, I aint falling for it. It's a scam. Winners are posted on web site, and with 3 or 4 in NY state, odds are bad.Thus, stick playing Sweet Million for $10 instead of 1 card for $10.Or even Take5. $10 of Win4 for 1:1000 for $50k.

In Idaho, they say they remove scratch offs when all of the top prizes are gone. However, I knew of one convenience store retailer who kept selling them until the lottery came and took them. That could take a week.

I looked around the SC lottery site and couldn't find one thing about scratch games. Either their web site sucks or I'm blind.

The one thing I do hate about scratch offs that sadly is there are so many of them wich makes it impossible to know (without research) which ones have already had the jackpot wins...The few I've purchased have been spur of the moment, and with my luck, the jackpot was probably already won....The clerks never keep up with this information...at least, not at the stores I buy from....

The only reason I buy scratch-offs occasionally, is because I win maybe $2 a year off my PB MM tickets. Total. Seriously. So scratch-offs help me pay for playing for the big wins.

There is one store I like in particular and this one clerk had the magic touch. However, I haven't seen her in ages, so I think the magic has left there (haven't bought a real winning one there in ages). Texas Scratch Offs are not what they used to be. I typically buy a minimum of $20 of scratch off tickets each week. They are not paying off like they started out. Yesterday I purchased a new scratch off ticket AMAZING 8's. To win you, you must get 3 matching amounts or 2 amounts and an '8' symbol. Well, I had two matching amounts and an 888 but it was not a winner. I felt it is misleading.

I hardly ever purchase scratch offs, but a couple of weeks ago, I had a couple of dollars while paying for gas, so thought, what the heck! Well rdgrnr, you have to come down out of the hills and enjoy some life's luxury's......we have vending machines in middle tennessee and the best part is

no clerk to deal with.......... but you better have a nice dollar bill it won't take no crappy bill......ha ha

was at publix grocery store and noticed the manager loading a new roll....of giant jumbo bucks.....i wanted to buy the first one ........loser....... o well

i will only by one scratcher a week......period.

I can only win out of NY. Almost all the big winners are sold in the NYC/Long Island area. Still buy a few NY scratchers but never expect much back.

I once heard a clerk warn one of the ticket hawks not to buy a certain ticket cuz they had already sold two $50 winners off that roll. That's another reason I don't like most clerks or even buying Scratchers. I'd be more inclined if they were available in vending machines like states have that aren't still in the lottery stoneage like Tennessee.

If you ask them to give you just any scratch tickets, as if you are undecided, they'll give you those that already won that day, the empties. That is, of course, if you came at the end of the shift, not at the start. When they hand them to you, immediately change your mind and take other tickets, which they did not offer.

This is how I feel. Which is why I take longer to scratch them.

Like you when I buy them and lose I think about how I would rather have spent that money on a draw game.

The worst was when I bought a scratcher about a month ago. There were two cashiers and when one was walking by, after I had paid for the ticket, she mentioned they had a few winners from that game that day. I immediately thought 'well, that money's gone'.

Buying scratch offs are not worth the trouble. I always check the NY lottery website to how many top prizes are still to be won. For example, if there are 6 top $ million prizes for that game I might play. but if there is only 1 or 2 top prizes remaining I don't. My advice is check the lottery website before you buy

I hate scratch offs too. First, I never win more than a couple bucks. Second, the time to enjoy the anticipation isn't long enough. For me, lot of the value in a draw ticket is thinking and planning for a win until the drawing dashes my hopes ... again. But the scratch off is over so quickly, I don't get enough entertainment value to make it worth it. As I throw my scratchers in the trash, I always think What a huge waste of my money. With scratch offs there are gazillion of techniques to figure them out, so people who works with them can already pick crop of the crop leaving customers with empty tickets.

This is a great strategy that I use when i go to the casino near my house to play slots and its very effective...i usually bring 60$ with me and play. A few weeks ago i sat down at my favorite machine that usually pays out and in 3 spins i was up 300$ i played 1 or 2 more spins at the max and then got up and cashed in the 300 and took 60 out of that like billionaire2bee was saying so I already have 240 in my pocket if i lose the other 60. I think they are fun....you know right there and then if you won....and when you get a big when it's so thrilling...I will usally take what ever I put into it and keep playing with that amount til I lose and just pocket the win....So say I bought a $20 ( I usuallly only play the $20 or $10tickets) if I win $50...I just take $20 and keep playing that til I lose it and pocket the $30...

As much enticing and sexy they are, I hate 'em. On one side there is a fantacy and lure of scratching and finding out you won right there and then but I think they are goofballs. You just don't know what prizes are already gone. Everybody doesn't start and finish at the same time to find out who the winner is. Would love to hear your thoughts.
