You are right about some people not being wise with their lottery winnings. Like yourself, if I ever win the big one I want it to last as long as possible. I do like guitars especially acoustic guitars, I play the guitar but not very well. If I ever win the lottery would invest in guitar lessons, lol. As I mentioned before it would be nice if we both win enough so we no longer have to work in our low paying jobs.

Also, I know that the lotteries in the United States are taxed and people do not receive the full amount of their winnings; that is very sad;

In Canada, even though the lottery is not taxed, some people if they win alot of money, are not the smartest people ,and waste the money on buying thing's they don't really need.. Or giving it to family member's or other people that don't deserve the money'

I reside in Massachusetts. It's great that you live in the beautiful Country of Canada where you have Universal Health Care (unlike our country, but that's a whole other story, lol). If you win the lottery, which I hope you do, your lottery winnings are tax free not like here where we are taxed on lottery winnings. Don't get me wrong I will gladly pay my taxes on any lottery winnings but if you win a million dollars in the lottery in Canada you get to keep that amount and here... [ More ]

Whenever I have a few thousand in the bank, I feel much more secure. If I could be out of debt, even if I still had to work, I wouldn't care how much furniture I sold. I wouldn't have to sell x amount to make ends meet.

I really wouldn't mind hitting millions so I wouldn't ever have to sell another stick of furniture again.

It's part of my treasure hunting hobby. I've been a treasure hunter all my life. When I was a little I would check pop machines, phone booths, around parking meters and under bleachers for loose change. As I got older I got into prospecting gold, metal detecting, yard sale searching and playing the lottery. I've realized over the years it's not how much I find/win, it's the thrill of the find/win.

Like your sense of humor. I would feel exactly the same as you if I had set numbers that I played. That's why when I don't have a regular set of numbers to play or would feel that I could never not play them in case the one time I didn't play those numbers were picked. Now if I play my own numbers I just pick random ones.

It seems we have similar reasons for wanting to win (I would love to be able to pay for my daughters college). Like yourself I'd also like to help my family members. Traveling as you mentioned would be wonderful. The financial security of a lottery win would truly be life changing but the best part is the trickle down effect by being able to help those you love to have a better life and being able to help people who are in need.

I could have avoided the processing charge by driving 65 miles to a regional office or mailing in the paper work and waiting 2-3 weeks for it to be processed but I chose to go to the authorized bank in the county and get my money instantly and pay the fee.

People play for the same reason people played 'policy' for 5 cents when that's all there was, it's the working slobs only real chance to get a little extra - or a lot extra in jackpot games!

That's for the most part, for the 'idle rich' it's just a form of entertainment and money is their way of keeping score.
