$3M AT is the lowest I could go to retire and live somewhat comfortably.

$99 M after taxes tithe does get me much more comfort though...

- $10M House on the beach

- $20M TF for kiddo

- $10M for 5 large bank accounts, new furnishings for new house, couple of nice vehicles a vacation or 2.

- $10M in Dividend Aristocrats

- $50M in tax free munis @ 4.5% (or better) which genrates $2.25M/yr tax free. If you can't live on $1M/yr tax free and keep re-investing the rest, then your... [ More ]

Being in my late 30's, I'd be looking for around $5million after taxes. That would give me enough to give a little to family, buy some land/house and invest the rest.

I'm going for 40 years out so I use 166.1181 as my inflation multiplier.

Seeing that the maximum wage allowed by law by Obama is $250,000 before you start incurring fines I would figure that that is about 180,600 after taxes so....

180,600 * 166.1181 = $30,000,921.73 adding $8,000,000 for lawyers, accountants, and celebration money we get 38,000,921.73 for 40 years and that figure is for the after tax cash payout.

Actual cash value over 100 million would be good cause then I can split it with my brother and two sisters....then they can give it to whomever they want rather than coming to me asking for cash....Also it gives the beggars in the family and whoever more targets to hit up for cash....they'll call me and I'll divert them to my sibs LOL

I'd say 30-50 would be good for me as well... Something in the 1-10 range I can see just getting blown thru or bad investments... Plus I have 3 young children who needs to be taken care of.. it's all so much more than I have now though

For me: Its $30-50 mil AFTER taxes.l have factored in charities etc- hence the 50
