Computer draws are the reason I will drive to Georgia or Illinois to play the lottery. I feel the lotto in those States are fair and honest. Of course I don't make that drive very often, maybe twice a year and always when I have other business.

The visibility of computer draws leaves much to be desired. And if there is a way to minimize payouts and maximize gross income, Tennessee will find it.

It's now 23 draws with no doubles, and one triple.

I randomly chose states to glance thru, and out of the 10 or 12 I looked at, the one with the least doubles was 2 out of 14 draws. The most was a lot - like 5 or 6 out of 14 draws.

Sorry to say, the only two games you can play in Idaho that are drawn with traditional ball machines are Mega Millions and Powerball.

States claim they do testing to make sure their equipment is working properly but Tennessee also claimed they were doing testing and it was a week or two before they noticed their number generator wasn't producing doubles and triples.

You can check the results of states that still have ball drawings to see what's normal.

So Idaho's draws are all computer generated.

A few years ago, it came to light that someone had programmed the Pick 3 so that no 2 numbers could be alike, which eliminated doubles and triples.

We've now been without a double for 22 draws, but there was a triple.

So, is it possible to accidentally screw up the program to allow it to draw triples but not doubles? It seems like it would take some pretty thought-out programming to get it to do that and it's hard to imagine it could be accid... [ More ]
