I saved them for a year two different times. At the end of the year I added them up to see how much I spent. I was

surprized. It was more than I would have thought. But it was still a winning year both times. I haven't saved them since...

The losing tickets have to be from the same financial year as the tax year to count, right? Anways I never keep them. I hate being reminded of failures.

Yes I keep my tickets, am like the guy who was on Winning the lottery, he had been playing for years and had bags full of lottery tickets.

So true. I heard from an IRS guy who with his team, pulled an all-nighter counting losing tickets of a guy who claimed a lot of losses. IMHO, I think they did it for the overtime $$$$. Regardless, keeping them can come in handy, just in case you win the big one and need to claim losses.

In NJ the tickets are required to claim your prize in the MillionDollarReplay second chance drawing, at least according to the web-site.

I won a few gift packs years ago, and they required that I mail them the tickets for those as well.

JB reminded me that I tend to keep the QP numbers too, even though I've been weeding some of those out lately.

I agree, they are good numbers to play again budget permitting.

I keep the number draw tickets until they are passed the expiration date to redeem and try

and check them again the month before they are set to expire, just in case I missed something. Then I pitch them.

I used to save all of my Instant tickets, but now I toss them after the second chance drawing. NJ has a second chance drawing

where you can enter $10.00 of losing tickets and get a second chance to win. I usually wait a month after

btw, if your state has replay program for losing scratch-off, you should keep the losing tickets after registering the ticket numbers. While you are not required to keep the tickets, it is better to keep them just in case there is any question about the tickets.

Yes I always kept them til. end of year for tax reasons,

after a recent win I found I should have kept them longer.

In some cases you can carry loses forward.

...every now and then I may keep a cash 5 dud or lucky4life.I played monday night and absolutely love the qp numbers even though they didn't hit.

They truly look like a potential winning set of lottery numbers..so the next time I get the urge or have the money,I will replay them for sure.

Most of my lottery tickets are kept online and they email me if I win but if I buy one from the store I keep it and give it a second look to make sure.
