I think el gordo , the fat one in spain has a good format. sue the tickets are expensive, but man does that money get shared around. the UK euro millions with thte exra millions in raffles, , and the canandian lotto max, whenre anything over $50 mill i think goes into extra draws, NOW they are on the right track.

peronally id rather see 500 people made millionaires ea week, than 1 person win a half a billion.

Perhaps I'm just an old idealist, but if they can send athletes to the Olympic games every few years why can't globally like-minded lottery players have the chance to chase the dream of that truly massive jackpot?

On the topic of worldwide lotteries I was just reading a story about a Dutch businessman who plans to hold a worldwide lottery this year to pick 10 people to send on a one way mission to Mars by 2023 and set up a colony where they will remain for the rest of their lives.

Very true, the temptation for some type of fraud would be enormous given the amount of money that would be involved. There would no doubt need to be a good deal of safeguards and regulation in place to oversee operations for a game like that.

It certainly would be an exciting game in reality. With true worldwide participation the jackpots could start in the quarter billion range and go up from there. It would be like the recent Powerball frenzy for EVERY drawing.

Would be a Nightmare. Currency exchange, animosity you name it. Some poor Soul from a small village in Africa or a penniless person from the Andes coming to town for the first time in a Decade winning $32 Billion. I think that would not sit well with some high priced Attorneys who could not get their greasy fingers on that pot.

Lol, yes it would be one of those rare instances. Much like the states currently earmark lotto profits for education, a hypothetical worldwide lotto could use profits for many altruistic causes like providing food, medicines, and educational opportunities on a large scale.

Has this ever been seriously considered before? Europe already has their multi country Euromillions game. Imagine a big jackpot game with the US, Europe, and other countries in Asia and around the world participating.

With a big enough game matrix an occasional billion dollar jackpot wouldn't be beyond the realm of possibility.
