It's for the lower ties prizes. Example when it's X 2 and you have the Mega Ball you win $4.00 if you have 4#'s and the ball you win $20,000. It does not apply to 5#'s though that's when you win $1million no matter what except in Californial of course.

The megapiler comes into play on the lower tier prizes. However, if you get the first 5 correct with the megaplier the prize payout is 1 million. If you get the first 5 without the megaplier, the prize is $250,000. This was changed some time ago, probably to compete with PB. Can't remember when.

I was checking my numbers on the NC lottery homepage and it said the megaplier for last nights drawing was 2 but on the payout page it said the payout if you had 5 out of 6 w/megaplier was $1,000,000....I thought it was supposed to be $500,000 cause $250,000 x 2 = $500,000...right? or did they change something??....Also havent seen anyone in a long time win any other amout w/megaplier other than the $250,000 or the elusive $1,000,000....I mean no $750,000 winner no $500,000 winner...Is it just m...
