In one sentence you say that if you disagree with some one that does not give you the right to belittle them - Apparently you don't think that applies to you because just a few sentences later you say that they must have a demon in their heart - clearly not a kind thing to say. The 'tell the lawyers' part might be my most stressful moment. I don't have a trusted attorney. I would be anxious to get everything started so I'm not sure how thorough I would be in vetting my choice for lawyer. First you need to beat astronomical odds and hit the numbers and then you need to get lucky and get a lawyer who is both ethical and competent. We've all seen too many stories of rich people being screwed over by their attorneys, managers and financial guys.

I am undecided about this. I would want to tell my husband right away but I am afraid he would not be able to keep it quiet from our adult kids. I would not want to tell them until everything is all set with the attorney and financial planner. Because the more people that know the better the chances are that the word would get out. I would never handle it the way the recent NJ PB winner did.

Aside from telling my lawyer and the lotto people, I would tell my whole immediate family all at once. I've dreamed of the moment when I get to tell them and how it would all go down. Tell them to all meet up at my house for a BBQ, and then show up in a Ferrari. Act nonchalant toward the fact that I just drove up in a 250K+ car and then go inside and eat. Let them wonder the whole night about what was going on. Then at the end I'd let them know.

Lawyer first. Figure out the best way to handle the legal, tax, privacy and security issues. Then the night before claiming the ticket I would need to tell the rest of my immediate family. I couldn't let them be blindsided by the press or wierdos after my name goes public. Before the meeting with my family I would have figured out my budget, with the help of an advisor, and how I planned to share with them.
