Red- when l am discussing the lottery and one year to claim the prize, l am ONLY focusing on MM PB, not local games.Very rarely do l discuss local State lotteries because there is not enough meat on the bone to get excited about, in my opinion.

California has local lotto long before they joined MM and PB. All local lotto have 180 days deadline but they still have 365 days for MM and PB. So, at least in CA, the decision to make allow full 365 days deadline for MM and PB has nothing to do with the deadline of the local lotto.

The government does not want people to have money. With this knowledge it is easy to see why they have a time cap on collecting prizes. Some state governments are greedier than others.

TN gives you only 6 months cuz they hope you procrastinate and they get to keep it so they can buy more black helicopters to keep an eye on complainers.

When states first started having lotteries, they only had their own and made their own rules. When multi-state lotteries came along, each state ran them according the rules they had already approved thus states have different rules for the same games.

Not sure but i noticed States that have a 180 day limit, have other games like raffles to get unclaimed prizes back out to the public.

its up to lottery

that is how many days

simple as that,

and also if no one claims a jackpot who won it, lottery's win the jackpot for themself's

all money won in unclaimed MM/PB go back to states who collected the money

aka ever state gets amount of money they collected for prizes the jackpot cash back

and they spend it however they wish

a few states try to give it away, but must just keep it for bottom line,

in short state lotteries win the jackpot we BUILT AND PA... [ More ]

In California one has up to a year to claim while others States have 180 days for the exact same win. Why the difference in coming forward what happens if you don't pick up your check, where does your winnings end up- obviously not the landfill.
