I don't think that it is the regular binary system, but to me it seems to be better.

It can be used in either of two ways, as seen below, some might like one conversion more than the other.

0010 = 2 or 1

0100 = 3 or 2

1000 = 4 or 3

1001 = 5 or 4

1010 = 6 or 5

1100 = 7 or 6

1101 = 8 or 7

1110 = 9 or 8

1111 = 0 or 9
