MIDDLETOWN, PA., JUNE 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- One jackpot-winning Powerball ticket worth $131.5 million from the June 22 drawing was sold at Federal Beer, 1440 Federal St., Philadelphia.

The ticket correctly matched all five white balls, 13-19-23-33-57, and the red Powerball 28, to win a prize of a $131.5 million annuity, or $77.4 million cash, less 25 percent federal withholding.

I wonder why in a multi-state lottery that the heads of the nationwide jackpot games chose to allow states to release exact location at their own pace but release which state has the winner within hours after the drawing. Me thinks this has something to do with a part of the agreement with the states to provide them with some type of power over the games rather than allow one larger entity to oversee and control all aspects of the jackpot games.

Looks like it depends on the state where the winning ticket was sold. I just check PA lottery website and actually had to dig a little to see that it was a PA winner. (I already knew from Mega USA). Nothing on where in PA it was sold.

In Texas, they publish on their website what city and store the winning ticket was sold, including the 5+0 winners, if any, as soon as the results are in.

A Powerball ticket that was sold in Pennsylvania hit the estimated $127 million jackpot in Saturday night's drawing.

The Pennsylvania Lottery has not yet said where the winning ticket was purchased.

Nobody has come forward to claim the prize yet. The winner has one year to do so.

Whenever I see an interview with someone who won the lottery, I hear them say something like, My friend told me someone had won the jackpot down at the local gas station. I knew I bought a ticket there so I went and checked my tickets... They know in these small towns because of 'small town talk' after the machine in the store indicates a jackpot...It often seems to take some time before I start hearing which CITY a winning ticket was sold in even though we are made aware of which state the winn...
