I'm looking forward to your report, I'm a HUGE fan of CNBC and one of my favorite shows is American Greed. I started playing the lottery because of a series called Lottery Changed My Life on TLC. I think CNBC should do a weekly or bi weekly series featuring lottery winners just like LCML. I like seeing average people win HUGE amounts of money and I wish them the best. Jimmy could tell us his idol came to the same conclusion and wrote an article about Lustig's advice too. The thing is, Lustig's advice about buying at least ten scratch-offs is based on purchasing ten $20 tickets with a 1 to 2.34 hit ratio. I have seen a dozen or more left wind whack jobs come and go from LP in the past year or so. They cant survive in an environment where the general public can respond at will. Yeah, I didn't think he'd have discussions in-thread.(especially after it went off the rails) Instead contacting people for one on one interviews, and only for those that were receptive and didn't seem like a nutjob.

I agree there are probably lots of casual lottery players, only playing 1 or 2 lines on jackpot games, for a total of a few hundred dollars a year. The thing about the lottery is how slow the play can be (except scratchers) compared to a casino, only 1 p... [ More ]

I have a suggestion, a real good investment. Put some of that lottery investment money away and at the end of the year go see a shrink.

Wow, you're pretty lucky! And that must have been a wonderful feeling! I love Vegas for the whole scene - the lights, the fantastic hotels, etc. but I'm too nervous to gamble much. I can't ever drum up enough courage to sit at a Blackjack or Poker table even though I love watching those games. So I stick to the slots. The best I did was on a cruise ship where I made $81 at the slots.

Yep, I'm just in it for the fun. It has no impact on my life, I don't do without to buy lottery tickets, I don't go into a deep depression if I don't win. I like to dream about what I'd do if I won but when I don't win, it's no big deal. I keep it at around $6 to $10 most weeks, but once in a while spend a bit extra when the big ones get really big. Although sometimes I think those big jackpots are too big! Like, scary big

I don't know. I do know the feeling I had of when we were in Vegas last and decided on our first night to go to circus steak house for dinner which was far from where we stayed. Stak house was full, so I walked to the carousel put two bucks in and hit 5 thousand, decided I needed to leave for some reason but as I was walking out put another 2 bucks in another machine and hit 500 was a dam good feeling when they are counting those 100 out in your hand.

Personally I feel the average lottery player is just someone having fun hoping to win someday, maybe. Their not stupid, crazy just enjoying the game. Yes there are more serious players. I was told by a store owner he was asked if when his store closed if they could run numbers off his machine for two hours straight on this last jack pot. In my opinion it's not so much about the original intent or content, but more that some felt they had to respond negatively to me, when all I was doing was expressing my distaste for erroneous comparisons.

Then it spiraled into something undesirable. Not my fault. It seems almost taboo these days to express and or point out inconsistencies.

I have always been suspicious with scratch off tickets and their distribution. Boston is the largest city in MA but sells very few top prizes. The reason I isolate scratch offs is because the winners are already in the books by the time of delivery unlike online games such as PB or MM of which the winning numbers are drawn at specific times. Personally I trust online games more.

I quit scratch offs more than 2 years ago.

We have a similar problem, here In Jersey It seems like most all winners are up north In the counties closest to N.Y.C.

2 recent exceptions would be the 16 county garage worker's pool and the may 31st MM winner.

If's It's a population thing, why are'nt most cali. winners from Los Angeles and surrounding counties
