In about 1 of 11 drawings the Mega number is the same as one of the white balls. Therefore, nothing unusual about the 8/27 and 9/3 draws. Also, sequential numbers are not unusual. In a random drawing, any of the alloted numbers can be drawn. The only pattern in Mega Millions is that there really is no pattern.

Yup, there was an article in the Amarillo paper about it and they quoted some math prof. from a local college about the odds of it happening. I also remember another man from Texas playing one of the nationwide lotteries in New Mexico who got 6 or 7 QP and they were all the same number. I saw a photo of all the tickets, but still wondered if it *might* be some sort of hoax. If not, then there had to be something wrong w/ that lotto terminal, wouldn't you say?

Interesting... identical QP's on the same ticket for a single draw??? That would be kinda bogus (unless you won with those 2 lines).

Now those numbers you got appear a little unusual to me... however, they still could yield a winner just as much as any other set!

If those numbers had been dealt to me, as irrational as it sounds, I would feel as though they were unlikely to win... I can't explain it... like I said irrational .

I bought two QP tickets f/ this last MM drawing; here are the numbers:

41 43 54 55 56 01

03 05 09 12 13 12

Both lines were unusual but when I first looked at them, I thought they'd do as well as any others...and I was right, they did just as well as all the other losing tickets. It used to bother me when the mega-ball/powerball was the same as a number in the five, but I've won a few bucks recently with tickets like that.

Even the last time Mega Millions went over $100 million, which was just four months ago, Powerball was still crushing MM with its jackpots, and Mega Millions and Powerball popped on consecutive days.

Was discussing just that the other day with a friend and we were wondering what would make for a better way to start a game with a new number field? A $500 million plus jackpot or $12 million, if no one wins the MM jackpot and the jackpot was at record setting $$$$$$$$$$$$$ would sure make everyone want to play the new MM. So are you saying the only winning numbers that are normal are ones that have no sequential numbers, nicely spaced out in between, and a mega number that never matches the 5 winning numbers?

There is no such thing as normal winning numbers. All combinations have equal chance of showing, and given enough time, they will all show eventually. You may even see 1-2-3-4-5 and MB 5, in your lifetime.

What is it that you think is odd about them? I don't see anything that hasn't happened several times before since this matrix was created 856 drawings ago.

Now that the MM jackpot is at $95M, I'll be playing as many chances as I have before the matrix is changed to 5/75+1/15 next month.

You do realize that those 3 combinations are 3 of 175,711,536 combinations, don't you.

Do you know that 1-2-3-4-5 +6 is one of them too? What do you think if THAT one is drawn?

When those balls are blowing around in the machine, how do you think they might eliminate THE combinations that YOU think are suspicious? When the numbers are drawn, they are not drawn in order. Did you think about that? If they were computer generated, you MIGHT have a point.
