Yeah, that wording is confusing indeed.

I'm familiar with the Hoosier state, worked in Evansville for a couple of years. Good place to live, as they say the biggest little city in the country that nobobody knows where it is.

The wording is so complicated it's difficult to determine what the prize pool will be or the odds. From what I read on the Ohio Lottery site, two $1 million prizes will be awarded after the first $4.6 million in total sales and then additional $1 million prizes will be added for every $2 million in sales thereafter. Here is a copy of the exact wording:

*Odds of Halloween Millionaire Raffle are dependent upon the number of raffle tickets sold prior to each drawing. Raffle tickets will be sold in 7 states. A minimum of two (2) $1,000,000 will be awarded nationally. One (1) runner-up prize of $50,000 will be awarded in each participating lottery that does not have a $1,000,000 winner.

If the Indiana lottery site says 'nationally' wouldn't 'statewide for seven states' be more like it? Since when is seven states 'nationally'........

When I first read that I thought somehow Indiana was selling raffle tickets nationally.

Oregon has its first ever halloween raffle but it is for oregon only and they are only selling 250,000 tickets from september the 8th to october 30th. The drawing is on october 31st and the tickets are $10 I already got my one ticket.-weshar75

This is a true Halloween Raffle because the payoff chart is trick or treat . The payoffs are pari-mutual meaning for every $4.6 in sales the seven state lotteries will keep $2.3 million and distribute $2.3 million in prizes and because two of the prizes for every $4.6 million in sales is $1 million, only $300,000 will be distributed in secondary prizes.

You are welcome meeeeetoooo. As you can probably tell, this is one I am staying away from also. I don't like open odds, especially with a price of $10 a pop.

Now that I think about it, odds on this game do not really exist since they have made a probability factor impossible to determine. One can only imagine a possibly factor, or in layman's term... guess.

All the states I looked at have different wording. Indiana is very vague on language. Almost like they are trying to promote it as an Indiana game and not a multi-state game (though it is stated, but not obviously). I would think a promotion of For every two million in sales an additional $1,000,000 Grand Prize will be added! * would make a huge difference.

That's horrifically bad-

First the language on how they figure the prizes is offensively and purposefully complicated/confusing-

At the end of the day I'm fairly certain had they said:

Mind your own beeswax, we've been screwing you with the odds for years whats with the sudden interest in reading----now go purchase 3 of our lil homegrown raffle u rube

but suffice it to say nothing in the formula is good for you

According to the Ohio Lottery it's a 50/50 raffle:

Just like a typical split-the-pot-style raffle, the number of top prizes is entirely up to you! As sales grow, we will continue to add chances for $1,000,000 top prizes.* So buy early and buy often, if you d like. Who knows?

And they have a slightly different description of the two $1 million prizes.

Just to keep it real I decided to do the math for adding additional Grand Prizes.

After combined sales of $4,000,000 + ($100,000 * 7) - $100,000 each jurisdiction shall contribute 50% of its sales to the prize pool... And for each $2,000,000 in combined sales by the participating lotteries beyond the initial $4,000,000 + ($100,000 * 7) - $100,000 an additional $1,000,000 grand prize will be added.

My curiosity was peaked when I reviewed the payouts for the upcoming INDIANA HALLOWEEN MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE. A minimum of 2 $1,000,000 prizes will be awarded nationally, and one $50,000 prize awarded to each state that does not have a $1,000,000 winner. Tickets are $10 each. Odds are based on number of tickets sold, however odds cannot be given because there is not a limit on the number of raffle tickets that can be sold! WHAT?
