In the Florida Fantasy 5 game, 46.58% of combinations feature at least one consecutive number.

Formula: Consective Combinations = Total Combinations - C(32,5) or Number of Non-Consecutive Combinations

Divide this number by total number of combinations aka C(36,5) to get the percent or probability. Result comes from Excel's COMBIN((n - k + 1), k) where n is 36 (draw pool) and k is 5 (number drawn).

But that contradicts The mistake most lotto players make, is that they don't pick two number together; like 09,10 . And if you play 5's you can't play consecutive numbers. You can't play all even or all odd either. Maybe someone will do the math and show us the percentage of combinations with consecutive numbers.

If it's a mistake not to play play them, it must be over 70%.

Why would you never play 1,2,3,4,5?

On a similar note, Florida Fantasy 5 once drew 1,3,5,7,9. Normal payout is between $50k-$200k. Well that night 98 people won $1,995. That's still more than what I won

Hi Harry194172,

I do play consecutive numbers together sometimes when I pick my own numbers. It's made no difference for myself. Since the lottery is so random I'm not sure it even matters as to what numbers people play. Though I would never play 1,2,3,4,5 together. I also feel that since more people tend to play lower numbers for their birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I tend to play more higher numbers.

How is this a mistake? Sure, consecutives do come out. But, this is just some of the time. What you're proposing is more of a notion ,or idea, for people to consider when playing.
