You pay the year you actually receive the money. And you would also have to pay quarterly taxes (due in April) for any additional taxes that might be due that were not taken out in withholding. If you wait to the end of the year, you could get hit with a big penalty. You do not pay taxes every 2-3 years unless you want to end up in prison.

well since the taxes are a year behind i say 2014 will be good, but you can also pay taxes every 2 or 3 years whatever you like to do.

I don't think we will see a Billion, heck we aren't even at 1/2 Billion. Right now in a state with no income tax, the winner would walk away AFTER 40% Federal taxes with

$110,400,000.00

Thats a serious amount of money

Aren't self picks and quick picks on 30/70 ratio? Whatever the % self pickers are using alot of 1-31 numbers which will cover those drawn numbers quicker. Even the 70% quick pickers usually have several 1-31 numbers.

If the numbers coming out of the hopper are all 32-75 it will help the odds of the jackpot rolling over to that billion mark a little better but nothing we can do about that. If someone hits it with those higher numbers they are less likely to split it.

Sales have still been pretty low considering the advertised jackpot, but if it continues to roll I can't imagine that it wouldn't pass the billion mark for the drawing on the 31st. Here's what I might expect at the (very) low and high(ish) ranges.

297, 345, 415, 525, 675, 900 (christmas eve), 1.2 billion+, completely insane

297, 370, 500, 725, billionish, 1.5 billion+, nearing $3 billion if they can print tickets fast enough, and it's still only the 27th.

No, if it is going to be a billion, it will it it before the 31st. My guess is if it rolls that high it will hit the 1 billion mark on Christmas Eve. Possibly the 20th.
