The woman did not win two million dollars. She won one million dollars as opposed to the $250,000 she'd have won had the megaplier not been purchased.

The clerk (she was the store owner) accidentally generated a MM QP with the megaplier. She told the man the ticket was two dollars. The man refused the ticket as he did not want the megaplier. The woman apologised, and created a one dollar QP, and handed the man the new ticket.

Wow. If that had happened to me, I'd be pleased to have won but still sick that I left so much on the table, just like I would be if I had a regular set of numbers and didn't play them and they hit or accidentally throwing away the winning ticket. I'm playing that extra buck - I'm not ahead on it by any means, but I've won small prizes a few times b/c of it on the Texas Lottery.

There is an interesting story about this winner on the VA lottery website. She won before!!! In 2008 and 5 of 6....but it was only $250,000 then. She still has not learned to spend that extra dollar. I have never heard of someone getting 5 of 6 twice in PB or MM.

Yeah, in Cali people are, wisely, spending more on the local lotto SuperLotto Plus than they are on the national MM and PB. About $4M for SLP versus about $2.5/$3M for MM/PB. With SLP with $49M JP at 41M odds it is much lesser evil.

I don't understand why Ohioans are spending so much more on MM/PB when their local Ohio Classic Lotto is so much better. I guess that is what happens when you setup the game where it is hardly ever won: people hardly ever want to play.

The Cash 5 game in Texas sucks. The jackpot doesn't roll, and almost never even hits $20,000. Usually around $17,000.

I play 2 Step, Tx Lotto, MM, and PB. Never the Powerplay on the Powerball as it costs $2.00,without the Powerplay.

I'd be happy just hitting the five white balls in either game. The Mega Game while the matrix has changed is still fun to play because it still costs a dollar. The drawing March 7,2014 is a whopping $270M.
