The incident I described in my post happened prior to last year's MM matrix change. The woman did not win two million dollars. She won one million dollars as opposed to the $250,000 she'd have won had the megaplier not been purchased.

This is the real quandary for all mega millions players. For PB the extra dollar will not get you an extra ticket so I don't think it applies. I add megaplier regardless of the what ifs. I can't imagine how the second prize winner from last night feels knowing $1 could have meant $5M.

Yeah I read about her on mega millions website she won twice in a six year span but did not megaply either ticket. The oregon 5+0 winner this summer did not megaply his ticket either. If that had happened to me, I'd be pleased to have won but still sick that I left so much on the table, just like I would be if I had a regular set of numbers and didn't play them and they hit or accidentally throwing away the winning ticket. There is an interesting story about this winner on the VA lottery website. She won before!!! In 2008 and 5 of 6....but it was only $250,000 then. She still has not learned to spend that extra dollar. I have never heard of someone getting 5 of 6 twice in PB or MM.

Yeah, in Cali people are, wisely, spending more on the local lotto SuperLotto Plus than they are on the national MM and PB. About $4M for SLP versus about $2.5/$3M for MM/PB. With SLP with $49M JP at 41M odds it is much lesser evil.

I don't understand why Ohioans are spending so much more on MM/PB when their local Ohio Classic Lotto is so much better. I guess that is what happens when you setup the game where it is hardly ever won: people hardly ever want to play.

The Cash 5 game in Texas sucks. The jackpot doesn't roll, and almost never even hits $20,000. Usually around $17,000.

Interesting observations. May have tried the Megaplier once or twice. Never the Powerplay on the Powerball as it costs $2.00,without the Powerplay.
