I'd simply feel worthless, lazy, and having a slave soul just like most people in this world, if I didn't play for a chance to win this big jackpot. Anybody can win it. I have friends who complain of never winning the lottery. You ask them, well have you played? They say no, they always lost playing cards or some non-money game as children. You can't win if you don't play. Yes, to me it makes sense to play.

Yep, I kow what ya mean. My original policy of all this time became 'illegal' and would no longer be offered by the company I'm employed with. What they did do, however, is somewhat modify certain aspects of my old plan increasing coverages here while slightly decreasing elsewhere...and it went up by $24 per pay period. When that person wins this jackpot, I am sure the story might be they were on the fence about playing given the astronomical odds of winning...I guess I am glad I played that dollar (or 5 or 10 or 20 whatever the case will be). Since it's a game we're told we likely won't win to begin with, why not play when there's likely not going to be a winner until all combos are played? Either way aren't you being told you likely won't win?

Most would say playing either before or after the matrix change doesn't make sense.

The only odds that matter are the odds of having a jackpot winning ticket on Tuesday and that depends on the sales. Friday's sales total ($175 million) was the fifth largest in MM history and it's possible because of the matrix change less than 50% of the combinations were sold. If Tuesday's sales get close to the record ($651 million), there should be enough combos sold to produce at least one winner.

Yea, I'm still playing even though I thought I would quit, hav'nt missed a beat due to my ticket buying routine.

Also feel like I have a stake since the Jp started before the matrix change, after this huge JP is won I will probably reconsider it again.

But just the same I've only had 1 ticket w/mp for ea. draw so who knows

I play for second prize so makes sense to me. 1mil plus would do me very well right now. 5 grand would do me well right now I'm not fooling anyone, for me I'm hurting and as sad as it is winning anything is gonna be my only chance of getting out of this debt thats been surrounding me forever.

Makes perfect sense to me..

My wife wanted to stay home last night and just rent a movie with kettle corn popcorn to boot, so we drove to Redbox and picked out some movies, she picked The Croods and if you watched the movie- in the end the Dad had to make a decision whether to toss his family into the unknown or stay where they were and perish. Well, as always, I'm gonna be the 'stand alone' person here once again. It makes absolutely no sense to play a game that contains odds worse than you leaving your house/home/apartment and having a piece of 'space debris' fall out of the sky and kill you. Yeah, the odds are just that bad. The lottery terminals did it for me, when I went to play my numbers last night an hour before cut off time I was told all the lottery terminals in town were down and had been that way for several hours. I had time to check a few more places and it was true. As it turned out I saved a couple of bucks.

Someone posted in another thread that it probalby won't get hit until all combinations are played, so I was playing off of that.

I'm pretty sure there's never been a US lottery with a 75 number grid and Mega Ball grid or anything similar so we shall see.

And just maybe one of the MUSL reps that monitor this board will see that not everyone is the type of player they're going after - known as the perfect player for the house.

Not really. I don't play (local games included) until the probability of a winner is relatively high. This comes as a bonus of higher jackpot games. It doesn't have to be all combinations sold....there are other factors of course. But I look at it like if the chance of a rollover is large then I should save my money for the bigger jackpot. On the other hand, I have seen drawings where someone wins on the first reset rollover, but in the end I suppose it would pay to be patient. And playing more... [ More ]

If what you suggest was true maybe it wouldn't make sense. Has any jackpot style game ever sold enough tickets to cover ever possible combination before it was won? Even when the Austrialian group tried to cover every possible combination in the Virginia lottery a few years ago and won, they covered less than 90% of the possible combinations.

Friday when we were getting out of work a couple of the guys said they were going to stop, I said you got 10 minutes till the cut off time, 2 of them laughed and said getting pizza and a beer seemed more important, so it's not the big deal it was just months ago.

Well I think Mega Millions could change that.

It made enough sense to play at least $2 worth. Maybe I'd change my mind about the new matrix once more draws happen and more research can be found, but at this time I don't see much point in researching it now as the odds of winning the jackpot are much worse. At least before I knew to very rarely have my highest number be lower than 40, unlike now where I have no clue because there's so many numbers to choose from.

Does it make sense to play the new Mega Millions? Yes and no. It makes sense to spend $1 per draw for a chance at millions, but with the new matrix it doesn't make sense, at least to me, to spend more than $1 per draw.
