Spread it out. The one winner take all way it goes stinks. When I play multi tickets when the jackpot rises (5 tickets max lately)

I already know my chances are slim. When the jp goes out and I see it went to one person with the betting frenzy that takes

place when it rises so high, I get sick and ask myself why I even play anymore than ONE ticket.

One person winning seems enough to me to turn more people off multiple ticket purchases. I wonder how many have changed

There are enough games out there to satisfy everyone's needs so I voted keep it as it is, winner takes it all. I'll tell though that I love seeing people who have been playing together as a pool winning. I'm no communist, at least I don't think I am, but I do like to see team work winning. Nothing ruins a lottery faster than share the wealth ideas if taken seriously by those running them. Ohio had a great game with its Super Lotto back in the day when someone decided $20M was enough one ticket to win and leave something for the next winners. Even PB got rid of their cap idea when they changed their matrix to get bigger jackpots faster.

Players have the option of increasing the secondary prizes for an extra $1 without changing the size of the jackpot they are playing for. Both MM and PB are using the odds to almost guarantee roll-overs hoping to start betting frenzies when the jackpots reach certain levels. Actually, my option B wasn't stated exactly right. It wouldn't be 2 Mega balls drawn. It would be 1 Mega ball plus a 2nd (or 3rd) ball called a bonus ball or something that only applied to the 5/5 matchers. Otherwise all the fixed prizes get paid out too much. Possibly if they change to pari-mutuel, multi Mega balls might work, but I didn't work it out that far.

Your Option B proposal is an excellent idea.

I've thought about something like this, 60% of the jackpot stays as is. For the remaining 40%, there are multi bonus balls, $1 each added to the ticket, players option of one only. The first bonus ball would get 50% of the remaining 40%, the second would get 30%, and the third 20%.

Yeah, the prize structure is really lopsided and top heavy. the Option A just kicks in when they got what they wanted, a big jackpot, to restore some of the money taken out of the other tiers to boost the JP.

For MM 50% of sales goes to prizes, with the lion's share to the top Jackpot tier:

I like your Option A. 2nd prize shouldn't be so proportionately small, so trickling down some money from the top would be a good way to make a nicer 2nd prize.

For this MM draw, I hope there's more than one winner sharing the jackpot. I'd be perfectly okay with being one of 3 or 4 JP winners. That's plenty of money.

More than one winner is fair. .to me. Its ridiculous to have a $500 mil single ticket. Millions have been playing and losing for decades and they get to a point where they will say screw this ..A chance to win becomes no chance at all.

Let's face it: one can only say Congrats to the winner only so many times before one starts thinking why am l even trying if l never win? When does it become why not me . That's reality no matter what some may say.

I think if it gets to the point where it takes forever for only 1 ticket to win, people will stop playing at the beginning and wait for a very high jackpot, or they will stop playing altogether.

I'd like to see several tickets share the jackpot, but only if I don't have a ticket with the right numbers. Either way, I'd prefer to see it happen on Friday instead of tomorrow night, and Christmas eve would be even better.

Every time these big half a billion Mega Millions and Powerball Jackpots roll around, there is talk from some to spread the wealth instead of having the lion's share of all the money played going to 1 winner. Others are just the opposite, repulsed by the commie/socialist aspect of such a sentiment. That would be choice #1.

#2 doesn't really work, because if you make the game matrix easier for more people to win, it gets won all the time and hardly rolls over. Big jackpots from many rollovers... [ More ]
