In recent years, after the death of family members, I have realized it is pointless to collect things or even buy things for other than utilitarian purposes...there will be someone after your death who will sell it and pocket the money. Someone is going to have a ton of fun after he dies. I would burn the expired ones. Couldn't stand knowing what could have been.

Right? It says in the article that most of the 10,000 unscratched are expired. You have to imagine most would be more than half, so we're looking at no more than 4,000 unscratched cards.

And you have to bet he won't say what games are left unscratched, or else you could look up online to see what amounts are left unclaimed.

This does sound like an interesting hobby though if I ever hit a jackpot. I could also pick up other state games during my road trips.

I heard of other collectors that only collect non-scratched tickets. I wouldn't dream of doing that. I want to know... is it a winner or not?

If I was going to collect pristine-esque cards, I'd carefully scratch the 2D bar code, scan, and only keep non-winning tickets with that small blemish on each ticket, good compromise for me.
