If I won a miliion, after taxes would be approx. $600,000 I think. With that little bit, basically a few more savings accounts. However if I won lets say 5 million, I would seek advice.

Anything over $5 million (after taxes) I'd hire an advisor. I'm not quitting my job for that amount. But it's enough to have a decent house, a couple of nice cars, be completely debt free and not lose sleep worrying about not having enough to retire on when the time comes. It's a non-lavish lifestyle amount I can manage on my own.

I can take the annuity so it wouldn't be much of a problem for me. I take whatever my ticket jackpot matches and I will be able to handle it.-weshar75

I am an accounting guy so I have that part covered, anything between $500,000 to $10 million I would probably be a little bit cautious and get advise. Anything above $50 million after tax I will handle myself as I dont see myself blowing that kind of money even if I tried

Without financial planners and tax attorneys helping you when or even right after you claim, what's the highest amount you think you could handle on your own. For me I'd say the base jackpots and below. Mainly because after taxes, buying a new house and a couple of cars, I'd just be looking for some simple investments to park the cash and just live off the income from the investments. That's me how much would you feel you could handle on your own
