In the past, probably from 2003-2008, I played the lottery many times. I think 2001 or 2002 was when I first joined this message forum. It has been a couple years since I bought any lottery ticket. I think the last time I played, it was powerball when each ticket was still only $1. The only reason why I played at that time was because it was a group who played and I didn't want to be the one person who didn't play and miss out if the tickets had won a large amount of money. Used to try and play every draw. Now, I have played maybe 4 times and they were all when the jackpot was over $300,000,000.

Those were a couple months ago and haven't wanted to play again since then.

Maybe last year but this year is going to be different less money on lotto and more money in the bank. I think sticking to my own numbers to play and not playing QP's on top of that will go a long way to saving me some mola for my bank account. Besides when I win a prize it goes further because I play less lines so instead of $10 and $15 tickets. I get $2 and $6 tickets so a win will cover another play or two for me.-weshar75

Lottery players do not have time to breathe with these jackpot games. How can you play the lottery 4 times a week and only lose. Lottery players are tired of losing money. It is the reason why big jackpots are not exciting people anymore. Reality has set in. We can't win any significant prizes playing these jackpot games.

They should contact PA Lottery and figure out how to run an old fashioned raffle but this time do it nationwide. PA Millionaire raffle sells out every single time creating 4 millionaires in each drawing. We'll have to wait and see how it goes.

Hey there, Thrifty. At some point, if and when sales finally drop enough to make a real statement, they'll have to do something because it won't be cost effective operation-wise. Whether that means dropping a game or even a few, or, simply re-adjusting the numbers for better odds and payouts is beyond me. But, those are the only options for them. A $5 game better have a very nice payout for even matching one number in my opinion.

I think that they mentioned it in a lottery post article. Jackpot games do not have more room for matrix changes. Higher ticket prices would support big jackpots and generate more revenues without high playership.

I play less this year because I use to get qp's with my own numbers on the same ticket for a full playslip but now I just play my one set of mega millions numbers. Then two sets of powerball numbers which I have been staying with since three years ago and the mega millions set since they change to the long odds. So it cost me $80 a month to stay in the two games which is down from $250 a month last year so I have more money to save for raining days. And I like to go out to dinner and the movies... [ More ]

I don't know about other folk, but I like truth. The odds are actually better as you've posted, but the lotteries do still make twice the money on the same losses while players lose twice the money for worse odds. I actually didn't really start playing PB until the switch because MM was having higher jackpots for better odds. Once PB started getting bigger jackpots I started to play. This year I'm going to try to play a little less, since there are other $2 games here with better odds for the prizes. I will probably play PB maybe 3 or 4 times (depending on the prize ). And I never use Power Play.

I didn't give it up, but I cut way back. I used to always have at least one ticket, and now I usually just sit out the first few drawings after the JP is won. And when the JP got high, I'd spend $10 or $15, whereas now the highest JPs get a $6 or $8 donation from me.

I just got back into playing PB and here's my reason... the odds are better for matching 5 numbers than MM. I'm playing for matching 5 white on PB and MM. Often I get two numbers on PB, even tho it doesn't pay anything. I buy 2 lines for PB (my own numbers) and I always play powerplay. I do powerplay because the little wins goes back into more tickets. So, I spend $12 a week on PB... its my entertainment with potential.

I have kept my promise to focus on local games in 2014. At work though there is a lady who runs a lottery pool and at $1 a person per game, I get to play PB. So technically I still haven't given up. But I won't pluck down $2 or $3 for PB for now. If I win something on the local games then maybe.

I still play, but usually just one line. But I do not play the power option, because unlike mega millions, it does not increase the 2 mil prize structure. Plus the odds are better at hitting the pb as opposed to the mega, even tho both are astronomical...LOL. Besides, you can't win if your not in

I am curious.. if I am the only one that gave up on PB when it went to $2 per ticket for a single line? I used to play $5 a game before but since the cost and the odds went out of site (not like they weren't before I know), I just have a tough time with $2 a ticket and $3 for the bonus and now that they cut the bonus ball win from $14 to $8 makes it not even worth adding the extra dollar in my opinion? Anyone else feel the same way? Or am I being petty?
