I see tonight's payout was just over $15K which suggests less than $70K OCL tickets were sold. With lower interest in OCL the MM promotion of buy2 get 1 free should increas MM sales.

No I don't. Years ago the Cleveland Plain Dealer had a website that reported Ohio's lottery figures but with sites like LP available players lost interests and like the old Maybelle site it went out of business.

Twenty plus years ago when the Virginia lottery was won by an Australian group that tried to buy all its possible combinations it was rumored that such groups traveled the world looking for lotteries with cash vales that exceeded the cost of buying all its possible combinations thus making them easy pickings for groups with unlimited resources.

With Ohio's May promotion of MM, spend $2 on MM tickets and get one free when its jackpot is less than $100M most players will probably opt to play MM instead of OCL so look for an even longer OCL run with no winner.

Yesterday's winning combination 35-39-40-41-44-47 was completely out of the box and only the third time that a winning combination didn't have any birthday numbers(1-31). Maybe I'll try picking 10 combinations out of the box(not similar to any of the previous winners) for this Saturday's drawing.

I'm disappointed with my system. I get it to work using all 3345 previous RC5 drawings and played 18 lines with my winnings and only win $2. I did a lot better with auto pick.

The good news is it continued to roll to $864K so I'll give it another try on Easter Sunday.

Actually the odds are 1:575,757 to win the jackpot with overall odds of 1:8.7 of winning something. My program couldn't deal with all 3345 previous drawings of RC5 so I brought 20 AP(auto pick) and got 18 of my $20 back so I'll probably buy 18 more tickets Saturday when I pick up my 10 OCL tickets since it rolled to $745K. If it goes to Monday without a winner(which I doubt) it will probably be a million dollars.

I thought you were from a neighboring state, you must really like playing Ohio's games if you traveled farther than a neighboring state to get tickets. I thought I was being extreme when I made the two hours trips to Indiana and Michigan borders to get PB and BigGame tickets before they came to Ohio.

The odds on Rolling Cash are like 525k to 1. If the jackpot gets close to a million then I will participate in that game as well but until then the OCL is the best value for the buck. It's a shame that I am several states away but I will rely on my aunt who lives in Ohio to get me my ticket once my current draws expires.

OCL continues to roll and the payouts were only $66,770 so there's no ticket buying frenzy. I guess the big spenders are waiting for the jackpot to get bigger or they think buying extra tickets is a waste of money.

When you see members posting hundreds of predictions every day for fun and never having a top prize winner in a jackpot game then you know that's not likely to happen but we can still dream.

At $66M, it's getting the attention of those MM PB pool players which means more tickets are selling. The last time it was won it was $2.7M but it had been $50.4M a month earlier when it was won which boosted ticket sales. I plan to play a couple of extra lines tonight myself.

I probably won't get excited unless they mention that the winning ticket was purchased at a service/rest area along the Ohio turnpike.

Most neighboring states have their own 6/48-49 game which will have a decent jackpot sooner of later so unless someone has a particular good 6/49 system they want to try they probably aren't going to travel more than twenty miles to try it. Besides states added PB and MM to keep players' interest local and it seems to be working.

I know I use to travel out of state to play but I doubt if I will ever do it again for any size jackpot.

More players buy MM tickets than buy OCL tickets. If as many OCL tickets sold as MM, it would be won every month.

Ohio added MM and PB to attract more players hoping they would buy more of the local games tickets but most players like to win something even if it isn't the jackpot and winning something is easier playing MM.

I just found out the last time the jackpot was won was back on December, 2011. It has now been over 355 draws and this is with 14 million to 1 odds which are better than Mega Millions 2nd place odds of 18 million to 1.

I think $300k-$400k in sales would be adequate to raise the cash value $100k-$150k per drawing. It would be nice if they disclosed how many tickets were sold for each draw. With the current Jackpot this high, one would think that there are more than $400k in tickets sold every drawing. I can see sales going down to 100k per draw once this jackpot is won.

According to the lottery rules, half of sales goes directly to the state and the other half is used for payouts, commissions and adding to the jackpot. To add $100-$150K to the cash value of the jackpot and payout $50-$75K to lower tiers winners each drawings, at least a half million tickets needs to be sold every drawing.

Do you have knowledge of more than that amount of Classic Lotto tickets being sold every drawing

Shouldn't be surprising since there are three millions less combinations in a pool of 47 numbers than a pool of 49.

Ohio paid out $56,398 in winnings tonight which is the most it has for a Wednesday drawing in a while which means more tickets are being sold so it shouldn't be long before it gets taken down too.

Sounds like he's closer to Canada, they have a couple of 6/49 games up there that have pretty decent jackpots most of the time.

Six hundreds miles is a long way to travel just to lost money, he may prefer to just post some predictions and settle for bragging rights if his numbers come in.

It's not the first time the jackpot has reached this level because of going so long without a winner which kinda proves there is no guaranteed system for winning a 6/49 lottery other than playing every possible combination.

Regardless of the number or combinations I play, only one can ever have all six winning numbers. Playing ten gives me ten chances to get it right which is better than none and still within my budget. Last year I got 5of6 with only 10 lines which was only one short of having all six.

Ohio doesn't do much figuring when it comes to its cash options, it simply divide the jackpot amount by two. It's easier than figuring the constantly changing annuity amounts which would always be higher than 50% thus making it hard for a winner to match the 30 year payout by taking the cash and investing it.

Being from Michigan, it just a trip to the border if you're really interested in buying some OCL tickets, I use to travel to Michigan for MM tickets as did a lot of other Ohioians before... [ More ]

How long has it been since this game has been won? It has to be well over a year. The odds of winning are 1 in about 14m and the cash option is over $30m now. (I am not sure how Ohio figures their cash option. There is no way they could invest with today's rates and make that money in 30 years). If I won this I might actually take the annuity because of the good return it offers. Any Ohio people out there that can buy me some advanced tickets? lol
