Powerball fudged their numbers slightly. If you add in January,2014 (21) and February, 2014 (52) 2nd-prize winners to the 2012/2013 totals then it hits 1006.

The powerball website says there have been over a thousand second place prize winners in the past two years or so. That's alot of winners getting a decent amount of money, so one winner is better for the jackpot. Leave the multiple winners for 2nd place.

Mike, I would have to agree with you on this. Depending on the person(s) that won and their ideas on it's usage(or not) could impact quite a few people. Multiple winners does not guarantee generosity or good deeds either. Personally, I play for the whole jackpot and would prefer to be a single winner regardless of the jackpot amount. Not that I would be unhappy with a split jackpot, but I'd be happier with the whole thing. I consider it more fun when one person wins the big jackpots.

It even had some big winners from your state as well as Pennsylvania and Kentucky and all of the out of state players stop playing when they cap it and it never recovered. Shortly there after the other states had PowerBall and BigGame and Ohioans started going out of state to play them.

The way that I am thinking, a lotto game is successful when the payout for the lower ranks is much much higher than what you can actually find. The Mega Millions is a horror to me. Also expensive games are horrific. I like the All or nothing game in Texas, but seriously, I prefer to play for 50 cents a combination and win less.

Ohio Super Lotto was very successful years ago and some people thought its jackpots were too much for only one winner so they limited the amount one ticket could win and players stop playing.

There could be a hundred winners if a hundred players had the winning combination but as long as only one player comes up with winning combination I see nothing wrong with one player winning it all.

I totally agree! a 10 million jackpot amounts to just a bit more than $3 million after taxes and while it certainly would make my life easier I don't consider that a dream. Anything over $20 million after all tax obligations are met would be considered a dream in my book so I would have no issues splitting a $300-400 million jackpot with 4 or 5 lucky individuals.

I like the big jackpots and I like the single winner. However, if the jackpot is super huge as in 300 - 400 million and above it would be okay to have more than one winner.
