That's exactly what it boils down to.

But here is where the hilarity ensues: THEY STILL PLAY THE LOTTERY!!!

They have all this supposed proof and they KNOW for a fact it's rigged and only certain people/certain places/certain states ever win...but they keep buying tickets!! Even though they don't live in the 'rigged' states. And every time they don't win they see it as further proof that it's a scam.

why do the odds for each drawn combination decrease with the increase of the jackpot sum, or in other words with the number of bets?

The odds of each potential combination to win is not reduced by how many people are playing or how large a JP gets, they are fixed. The PAYOUT may change because more people are playing, thus increasing the possibility that there will be more than one JP winner, or more lower tier prize winners.
