I wouldn't retire from working, just from my current job. I wouldn't be crazy and go out and risk my money on some high risk business. If I had $10 million and was able to make 6% in an average bond fund, that's $600,000 a year in interest. That would be more then enough to live off very very comforably.

I'd be more than happy - I'd be ecstatic.

I was just figuring out how much Wild Card would be after taxes - about $280K after Idaho tax too. I'd be happy just being able to remodel the house I'm in and take care of a few other things, then put away a bit for a cushion. I'd honestly be happy with just that amount. If I could live comfortably in my dream home with all bills paid? I'd be absolutely ecstatic.

I feel the same as you. I'd love nothing more than never to have to work again. I've been working since I was 13 and I'm so ready to leave the working world behind. So often you hear the phrase money doesn't buy happiness but it does give a person financial security and that's worth everything. I've never been a person to spend beyond my means. I've never had a new car and have always known the difference between a want and a need.

It depends on the Jackpot. Anything between 5-10 million for me, you would most definatly have to live like an average person. 10 million invested will bring back about $300,000.00 in interest before taxes, conservatively. I could quit but i'm definatly not rich, because you could lose that money in a heartbeat. I'd be very frugal if i won something in that amount. A Much higher Jackpot is a different story, but it all depends on the jackpot.

As long as I also set enough aside so I didn't have to work ever again, yes, I'd be fine with that. I think I'd be fine even if I did have to work to pay the bills and put food on the table. I live in a big house that's completely paid off, dream cars paid off, don't got to worry about property taxes, I'd be fine with that. Any money I get from work would mostly go to savings because of little to no cost of living.

You paid off you dream home, paid off your cars, set aside property taxes for the next 41 years or longer. Would you be happy if you have to live the rest of your life as a average person? In other words, you are not living as a rich person.

Note: all bills can be paid and you don't have to work anymore.
