Just my mom and dad along with my husband. No use telling my toddler son or anyone else. Why take a chance ruining a good friendship with everyone else by disclosing you won a major jackpot as that will only bring resentment.

She bought that used reconditioned and I about fell over when she told me how much she had paid for it. I don't remember the exact number, but it was a little north of a couple hundred bucks, but she reassured me that it was a good price and I later found out she was right. I would tell my family that I came into some money and leave it at that. If you ever want to see a family turn on each other and act like something off of Jerry Springer, let them find out you won the lottery for several millon. The reading of the will when you die will turn into a battle royal among the family.

I learned something new today. Kirby vacuums. Never heard of them until your post and did some research. I currently have a Dyson, but next time I need a new vacuum cleaner, I'm definitely going to check out a Kirby.

My ex and I are on good terms and have kept up w/ ea. other since the divorce - which was fairly amicable, all things considered. The only sore point was splitting up some of the property and that was settled after a while when I pointed out to her certain financial realities. (such as why sell the house when we didn't have much equity in it) The only thing I really got cheated on was she got the Kirby and I got the cats. I really needed that vacumn cleaner.

Depends on the amount. 20 million and below, no. It's not enough to justify telling anyone. But anything over that, I would tell members i'm cool with and want to assist. I would let everyone know, I'm not going broke giving out handouts, and any amount giving depends on what I won. Since the gift tax comes into play after 5 million dollars, I won't be giving out that many handouts. But like I said it depends on what I won.

i would not tell my family. my wife and i have discussed this already and we are both in agreement. i love my family (and my wifes family), but there are many issues in both families that would need to be considered before telling or helping any of them. its not that we do not want to share, i would love nothing more than to buy them all a house and a car and tell them they dont have to worry about a mortgage anymore - but it wouldnt stop there with many of them.

My adult nephew is into the drug's ; and somebody that I do not trust. So therefore, I wouldn't want to give him any money, so that he can just waste it. And spend it on more of his bad habit's..When there are people out there, that would need my help, and legitimately would spend the money wisely..

I understand your sentiment, but not all of us are blessed to have a good, loving family. I have one sister I'd crawl on broken glass for the 300 miles to her if she needed my help. The other? I'd try to keep it quiet. If it were a huge jackpot, I'd claim it using a trust and not tell anyone. In fact, if I were able to quit my job, I'd probably wait a good 6 months or so before doing that, until after the excitement died down.

I definitely would since I'd split it evenly with them. But only I would need to win because I get full control on who gets what, which would be an even split. If any of my other family members won, there may not be an even split and I'm afraid I'd get the short end of the stick.

I'm assuming you mean if you win in a state that allows anonymity. In which case, no. While I plan to help my family, there are some who would have high expectations should they know how much I had and definitely if they knew it came from a lottery win. They are nice people but I know how demanding they can be and best to avoid a potential hassle wherever possible.

I live in Texas, so there's no anonymous claiming. The place where the winning ticket was sold is posted on the website. If I lived in Delaware where complete anonymity is possible then I would keep it to myself. No need in having people treat me differently. It would be tough to keep it from my family for too long so eventually I'd have to fess up. Would the family keep their mouths shut? Who knows
