There were 180 OCL predictions on the prediction board for tonight's drawing and not even one matched 3of6 which has odds of 1:56 of happening. Talk about difficult, I've never seen the board do that bad.

Can feel the frustration as LP is showing the Ohio Classic Lotto jackpot is now over $72M. Here in NJ our Pick 6 game has not had a winner since December 2013 and the jackpot here is only over $18M. Our Pick 5 is nearing a million but that game will eventually have a hit soon, as it usually does.

For me trying, too hard to win is a losing proposition. Know if I stop focusing on a particular game; it will get a hit. Think I'll continue with quick picks and some family birthday number... [ More ]

Ohio's Lot'O Play the game that OCL replaced never had a winner but it only ran about a year. It's last game was its best game because it still didn't have a winner so all the accumulated funds for the jackpot was divided among all the lower tier winners. I brought three $2 tickets and won almost a hundred dollars.

At three drawings per week, my guess is that there has been approximately 380 consecutive draws without a winner. I don't really follow most other games but I think it's safe to say that OCL has the longest streak period. Most other large jackpot games have two draws per week so it have taken almost 4 years to accomplish the same dissapointment.

The game was called Ohio Lotto, it was 6/40, and it and the 6/44 Super Lotto game that eventually replaced it in 1986 paid pari-mutual. When the pick-4 began it was only drawn 3 nights and it too was pari-mutual. When I just went to the Ohio Lottery website looking for their archives, I noticed that 8556 was drawn last night and it paid over $1000 for a box bet when it was first drawn in the 80s. Until Rolling Cash5 came along all Ohio games except the jackpots of their anchor game had fixed prize amounts unless all the prizes exceeded the cap and I only remember that happening once when a guy brought 20 Buckeye5 tickets matching all five numbers on each. The second tier prizes in state lotto games usually are small, because it's the jackpots that attract players. If they allocated more money for the second tier prizes, the jackpots would be much smaller, and take even longer to grow. Did you get an opportunity to pickup some OCL tickets as well? With the cash option being 2.5 times the odds, I still can't believe people are putting their money into PB and MM and ignoring OCL .

It seems most Ohioans aren't too bright when it comes to jackpot games. MM would need a prize of over 1.2 billion with a cash option over $650 million to be comparable in terms of odds to payout.

We have come into more modern times and are uniform on Eastern Time! Oh, with the exception of the northern cities up around Chicago and they remain on Central Time. I guess we are a state divided! LOL!

I live 21 miles to the closest Ohio lottery vendor and since we both now have MM and PB I have no desire to drive to Ohio to buy tickets there. Even the lure of the Ohio Classic doesn't seem worth the drive.

I doubt if Ohio has any plans to replace OCL. Its jackpot does look pretty good now compared to other jackpot games but it took a year for it to get to that point and after it's won it will take another year for it to get to that point again.

It probably would sell more tickets if the odds of winning and amounts of its lower tier prizes were like those of MM but I doubt if that will ever happen.

For the same $1 ticket price, MM players can win on average much larger jackpots and win $1 million or $10,000 compared to OCL's $1500. Before Ohio added PowerBall and MegaMillions it had the same problem and seeing all those Ohio license plates at places across the boarder selling lottery tickets convinced them they had to do something different.

Apparently for Tennessee players going out of state isn't a big problem or else it would be doing things differently too.
