PB bet slips in MA allow you a maximum 3 lines. So every player in their pool would have to fill 2 bet slips. With their 12 member pool, those are 24 bet slips

Why is it too many? Each person could fill out one full playslip of 5 self-picks, which isn't too daunting of a task. Then one person takes all the slips and money to the store to make the plays. Sounds simple enough to me.

Why not play one (or more) of each per draw? I've gotten some pretty lousy QP's in my time, super low-percentage numbers with virtually no chance of winning, so I basically wasted my money. I never rely solely on QP's - I always play at least one of my own numbers per draw.

So you play $120 a draw? At $2 a pop, that's 60 lines. 60 lines are too many to fill out bet slips especially for a single game. Since this thread is from May, I am curious if you have been doing quick picks or filling out bet slips.

I think picking my own numbers. I did a test, and compaired picking QP's and using my own numbers- and figuring my own numbers is a lot better.

Your pool sounds more like a group wanting to multiply their chances of winning, but some pools are created because somebody is very lucky and other people want to cash in on their luck. With the former type of pool it doesn't matter, but in latter, I'd defer to the lucky one's opinion.

I know where you are coming from because I've been running and office pool for several years. It is a lot of work to keep track of everything.

In my pool, we play Powerball, MegaMillions, and Louisiana Lotto. We've also played our state's Millionaire Raffle game when it was running. No big wins yet, but we keep trying.

The numbers we play are a mix of quickpicks and numbers we all selected. We pay in every 2 weeks on payday, and I buy multidraw tickets that cover the next 4 drawings... [ More ]

Assuming your pool is for the long haul, I suggest the following:

Add or subtract membership to form 2 or 3 six- member pools.

You would be a member of one team, but would also be AN UNPAID manager/coordinator.

You would coordinate things, keep records, in other words, manage the undertaking.

Each member of a 6 member pool would have responsibility for a specific Decade.

Member 1 would worry about the single digits, Member 2 would worry about the Teens etc Member 6 wou... [ More ]

LH, as far as your 2 choices, depending on your mutual agreement of the members of the pool, why don't you have your associates mark a set of numbers they want on slip. Do a split of the QP's and Chosen. Should the number of members be an odd number, consider having more QP's for that draw, then on the next use the chosen numbers the next time, ex: 9 players- 5 QP 4 Chosen slips. next draw would be 5 Chosen slips and 4 QP's.......or...

The real problem is a group of people are starting an office pool and they can't even make a simple decision of QPs, self picks, or a combination of both. They apparently haven't decided how many tickets the group will purchase each drawing, who collects the money, who purchases the tickets, what to do with any winnings, and when members don't pay to play.

I chose QP, because that's easier for me. I used to have favorite numbers I played in the Texas Lotto, but when MM and PB started being offered, I agonized over what number in the set to use for the bonus/powerball. I use QP exclusively f/ those two now. When the Texas JP is on up there, I sometimes play my set and a QP, but seldom play more than a single line on MM/PB - at $2 $3 line respectively, it's more than I want to budget for lottery playing.

Have each player give one line of their own self-picks to be played every draw.

And put the rest of the money in QP's.

And here's the best advice I can give you: If you know any cheapskates or annoying or otherwise irresponsible people at work - don't let them participate.

A signed, detailed agreement is nice too.
