I think we can thank Mega Millions, the addition of Powerball, and the jackpot fatigue phenomenon we seem to be seeing.

Sales for SuperLotto during this jackpot run was pretty flat, it didn't attract a slew of additional plays.

For us, we have three 2nd chance games - Scratchers, Fantasy 5, and SuperLotto.

As Stack mentions, we get a voucher for Fantasy 5 2nd chance codes, so they're not draw tickets. With Scratchers, only losing tickets are accepted into the system; if you try to enter a winning ticket, you'll get a red error message saying you entered a wrong code or the ticket may be a winner (a good double check mechanism).

I want to know why the jackpots continually only went up by $2 million each draw. It wasn't that long ago once the jackpot got to $20-$30 million, it would jump up by $3 million a draw. The jackpot should have been higher than $70 million.

California must be unique because second chance usually applies to losing tickets. Players can get receipts for their winning tickets in most states with probably the same type of numbers California uses for their second chance games.

I can't find a CA Super Lotto Plus promotion on the lottery website, but they are running a Fantasy 5 promotion that uses vouchers.

Is that unique to CA Lottery? Many state lottery come up with half baked promotion schemes that have unforeseen problems that aren't addressed because they figure the odds of them happening doesn't require them being dealt with.

Yeah, they do. It's on pages 64-65. They itemize exactly how much unclaimed prizes were distributed to education annually for the past ten years.

Some responses CA Lottery provide on their Facebook page are horrid too, especially with tax questions. Some official CA Lottery answers are downright misleading, bordering on lying through omission.

Your code entry from your calottery account is your entry. Paper ticket should not be required.

But they give two different answers for 2nd chance draws on the website, the first for Scratchers 2nd chance (where you keep the losing ticket) is more clear:

May I throw away the tickets after I ve entered them into Scratchers 2nd Chance?

You should probably ask CA Lottery directly.

You don't need the ticket to claim the 2nd chance prize; it's only required if questions arise with the entry, so what they do is recommend you keep your tickets until the draw is completed. I would assume the vast majority of 2nd chance claims are processed without issues and no reference to original tickets are required. The 2nd chance claim form just asks for your basic information. Hi Folks,

I am new to Lottery and I live in California.

I purchased CA Superlotto plus last week and won $10. I claimed my prize at the nearest shop and the clerk scanned my ticket, paid me $10. he took the ticket.

My question is: I have entered the 2nd chance code on the CA website, Now If I win prize in second chance, I have no proof to submit or claim the prize?

The clerk took my ticket and when I asked him I need it for 2nd chance, he said he is supposed to keep the winning claim... [ More ]
