Even if all 3168 possible combinations were posted, for MM the odds of having the winning 5+1 would still be 1:81721 which is still 8X harder than hitting a straight in a pick4 game.

Hi all

I am amazed by the recent postings here in the Jackpots forum over someone winning Maddog's PB challenge.

Congrats to the winner, nice job. I guess to settle the dispute Maddog could ask the participant's to generate

all the combos from now on and post the entire list. Let's see, hmmmm, I think the PB challenge participant's

select 12 white balls and 4 bonus numbers. This would mean that each person would be required to post 3,168

lines to cover every possible 5+1.

The question among wheel players is what is the minimum amount of numbers to reasonably expect a five number match and I believe most will say 12 is not consistently enough for a 5/59 game. Any group of 12 of the 59 PB numbers should have a five number match once every 6507 drawings and that includes 12 numbers picked by an RNG. The same odds apply to an RNG; IE it should pick one five number match after selecting 12 numbers out of 59, 6507 times.

I'm not trying to distract from your accompl... [ More ]

I don't see anyone in these challenges posting the same stale numbers over and over. I think for those of us that are very busy, forcing ourselves to take a few minutes to think about our numbers is useful and practical. I never got 3 of 6 in any game (an actual 3 of 6)before these challenges, and I have got 3 of 6 in multiple games, multiple times, including state games. The next goal is 4 of 6! And FJA's stats for these games are very informative and useful as well.

Maddog's challenges really showcases how difficult these jackpot games are. You can talk about odds like 1 in 175 million or 1 in 259 million, but once you play 12-13 white balls and 3-4 bonus balls and still not win more than $10 most of the time, it drives that point home.

That particular thread/challenge isn't about picking a single 5+1 combination. It's about picking (12) white balls and (4) powerballs! If you don't like the format then don't participate. I enjoy the MM and Powerball challenges. They are especially helpful for picking out the red megaball/powerball.

Thrifty--are you upset that you didn't play Basilio's winning combination? You certainly sound like you are...............

Why didn't BASILIO post a real combination instead of a group of worthless numbers? Let me guess, he did not want anybody else to play his combination.Hence the problem with MADDOGS Mega Millions and Powerball challenge, very few players post real combinations. They do not want other players to win a lottery jackpot with their combinations. They try to hide the real combination within a group of worthless numbers like BASILIO did.
