Tried explaning that many years ago RL, in no uncertain terms and those who understood it thrive while others struggle with the format.

Hardly anyone didn't understand the complexity of trapping a 5+1 even within those numbers. When Fja and myself were talking about the odds of the new format I think we took into consideration that it wouldn't be a cake walk so to speak. These numbers are meant to be on a wheeling basis outside of the challenge whether it comes from a key or otherwise.

True some members just can't do the math to figure out what an accomplishment that was. Even if all 3168 possible combinations were posted, for MM the odds of having the winning 5+1 would still be 1:81721 which is still 8X harder than hitting a straight in a pick4 game.

The question among wheel players is what is the minimum amount of numbers to reasonably expect a five number match and I believe most will say 12 is not consistently enough for a 5/59 game. Any group of 12 of the 59 PB numbers should have a five number match once every 6507 drawings and that includes 12 numbers picked by an RNG. The same odds apply to an RNG; IE it should pick one five number match after selecting 12 numbers out of 59, 6507 times.

MADDOGS' Powerball Challenge is a game in itself ... it is interesting to see everyone's predictions and how each draw pans out. For whatever reason it was exciting to finally see a 5+1 winner in the challenge. And Basilio did it with choosing one less Powerball (he chose 3 in that drawing instead of the allowed 4). There is a standard dictionary definition of the word hater (intense dislike; extreme aversion or hostility) and the urban slang usage. Simple and normal discussions creates haters because anyone who disagrees with an opinion is a hater using the illogical urban slang.

I would like to add not only did Basilio do a great job in the challenge under the rules, he never once made the claim, I won the jackpot. He knows exactly what he did. Those numbers were not worthless. Basilio posted that he tweaked a system he uses for the CA Fantasy 5 to produce those 12 numbers, so he was probably testing his system. I should also point out that the he was close to predicting the CA Fantasy 5 the week before with his system.

I don't see anyone in these challenges posting the same stale numbers over and over. I think for those of us that are very busy, forcing ourselves to take a few minutes to think about our numbers is useful and practical. I never got 3 of 6 in any game (an actual 3 of 6)before these challenges, and I have got 3 of 6 in multiple games, multiple times, including state games. The next goal is 4 of 6! And FJA's stats for these games are very informative and useful as well.

Maddog's challenges really showcases how difficult these jackpot games are. You can talk about odds like 1 in 175 million or 1 in 259 million, but once you play 12-13 white balls and 3-4 bonus balls and still not win more than $10 most of the time, it drives that point home.

The challenges are similar to the predictions board in that winning either doesn't require purchasing tickets. The object of the challenges is to see which player picks the most drawn numbers and picking 5 + 1 is a perfect score. It was pointed out the cost of playing all the possible combinations using those 12 numbers and the 3 bonus numbers is $4,752 and why I don't play.

That particular thread/challenge isn't about picking a single 5+1 combination. It's about picking (12) white balls and (4) powerballs! If you don't like the format then don't participate. I enjoy the MM and Powerball challenges. They are especially helpful for picking out the red megaball/powerball.
