Lottery winnings in the US should not be taxed at all!

If other countries don't tax it then we shouldn't either.

Government likes seeing those massive $500 million jackpots because they know they're in for a BIG payday.

It's an old argument but in the US you're taxed on it before you get it and what's left is taxed as you spend it, so in essence you're taxed twice.

Most lottery players in the US don't pay taxes on their winnings because they don't win enough to pay extra taxes. They probably would win any more if they were living in Canada or some other country.

Besides if I ever win a multi-million dollars jackpot, I won't mind paying a little extra to help the country after all I'm paying taxes now and I'm not a jackpot winner.

Great, these countries rock !!! because it's good to win and see all your cash. We pay enough tax already and share the winnings with the government again...i find it ridiculous when i see people in US win say $300M and like almost half of it is gone to the big guys. Wow !!! you guys need to move in Canada. I love my country
