Yep, but this time they are bashing for the wrong reason. If I read the article correctly, almost every Texas state agency is up for review by the Texas Legislators every 10 or 12 years and it's the Lottery's turn.

It's about bashing management without knowing how the lottery is run or the $1.2 billion a year in revenue the lottery gave the state last year.

Michigan has games that you can only play on the internet and the last time I checked anyone from any state could sign up for the Online instant win/lose games and play the online scratchers. I did not see anything about the regular draw games though.

You keep saying it needs to be managed better, but other than complaining about the payouts on a few scratch tickets, you haven't given any specifics on administration.

I'll say this one more time: you don't live in Texas so it's none of your business and you really need to quit whining about it. To add to this, Minnesota notes on their website that they welcome out of state residents to buy subscriptions. So if you are passing through MN, perhaps you have a connecting flight in Minneapolis you can fund a lottery account on line using a bank transfer which only takes a few minutes and with that money purchase a yearly subscription to most of their games, including all or nothing which is drawn twice a day. You can buy the MA megabucks doubler game over the phone with a credit card. They will skirt the law by using a carrier like ups to transport the forms to you. Massachussetts and New Hamphshire allow you to purchase yearly subscriptions to most of their games (not the cash 5 type games however) from any sales terminal within the state. Our legislature debated a lottery for a long time with many vocal supporters and opponents. The opponents basically agreed to put it to a vote of the people so the issue could be decided once and for all, with the people overwhelmingly voting yes. Maybe Texas should consider something similar, putting it to the people to vote it out.

Another way to buy tickets without having to go to the state very often is multidraw tickets. In Louisiana, there's a spot on the playslip for a ticket to cover up to 20 drawings in advance. For Powerball, Lotto, MegaMillions, and Easy 5, that translates to 10 weeks worth of draws. I buy 2 weeks, 4 draws, of Powerball, MegaMillions, and Lotto for my lottery club. Other lotteries probably offer the same option.

Last year, Texas became the first state to conduct four Pick-3 drawings daily ( daily being defined here as Monday-Saturday). Tennessee has three Pick-3 drawings per day now (but only one on Sunday). No other state draws the three-ball more than twice a day.

If this expansion is any indicator, I don't think the Texas Lottery is going to stop any time soon.

No, they don't have an online subscription service yet, I suspect it will happen in the years to come. The UK has an online subscription service.

With the Massachusetts Lottery you can only subscribe by phone.

You can get discounts by buying subscriptions, you are also raising more revenue for the state, by cutting out the agent's commission.

Mega Millions and Megabucks Doubler are $1 tickets and are drawn two times a week. The following are the prices of season tickets for these games.

6 Month Season Ticket = $50 (52 drawings)

A lottery isn't bad, a few other things can be bad, like sex without condom, working for little money, drinking alcohol and using drugs, also not being paid out enough when winning. The lottery was for the poor to finance organizers' interests (war, guns, vacation, hookers, sports cars, houses ...). A modern lottery should finance the poor

It is my understanding, that a subscription service is for the convenience of Massachusetts state residents only, not for people living in other states to take advantage of. I live in South Carolina. I cannot play Massachusetts lottery by the state's subscription service. That's not the way the Concept of Subscription service works.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I would drive to OK, which is only about 45 minutes.

As far as subscriptions for MA lottery, I think you still have to reside in the state of MA to buy MA tickets, even by subscription.

Well for me it would be a long drive for lottery tickets from another state:

485 miles to Louisiana

550 miles to New Mexico

585 miles to Oklahoma

630 miles to Arkansas

So a subscription service like that would be an option.

Not keen on buying a static set of tickets for months on end, though.

The Massachusetts State Lottery offers a subscription service, which is open to all residents across the USA.

Players can subscribe over the phone and your Season Tickets will be mailed to you.

Players can purchase Season Tickets for 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months.
