Java shouldn't be switched on standard in the browsers. A website will tell you if you need java. I used to play chess on Internet and needed java for it. You need to tell Windows where java bin is, to make java programs work on your computer. You can change the java settings by using the java panel.

The hardest lesson to teach is what someone thinks they already know.

My directory realitist.com a php LD directory uses an internal admin editor that looks very much like the one on LP. Only on Firefox I can't copy and paste, and have wasted tons of time trying to follow their instructions to allow copy and paste on a particular site, which I have never been able to get working. To use copy and paste in Chrome or Firefox, you need to use your keyboard:

Ctrl + X = cut Ctrl + C = copy Ctrl + V = paste

That is a limitation of the web browsers, not Lottery Post. It is a security feature that prevents web sites from accessing the contents of your clipboard.

The keypresses above work anywhere in Windows. They are standard keypresses, not something unique to Lottery Post.

Several years ago I dabbled with registry cleaners. At first I thought I was improving my PCs by eliminating old garbage from the registry, but it turned out not to be the case. In reality, the registry -- even with excess stuff left in there from old programs that you may have removed -- is not really the cause of slow-downs.

This is another reason why Windows 8.1 is much better than older versions: it gives you more tools to track down and stop stuff from hurting performance.

might I suggest adding an emoticon with zipped lips or duct tape over mouth and see how many post that

I still use a Windows XP operating system and I am using it right now, but I don't use Internet Explorer and I have no idea which version of it this particular computer has on it nor do I care, I don't find Internet Explorer so maybe I got rid of it, yes it is possible if you know how to, I use Firefox and right now I have version 27.0.1, I do update Firefox often, but not very often, it works good enough, so for those who still use WinXP maybe you would like to use Firefox.

I tried all your suggestions first before going back to ie 10

My first thought was the ads were loading fast and bouncing me or the 2 pages loading at the same time were doing it, but I'm not getting that now with ie10

BobP, the reason it is saying you must do a clean install is certainly because you're trying to install a 64-bit version of Windows 7. Also, to do an upgrade I believe you have to start the install from within Windows -- not boot from the install disc or USB stick. Scratch that. I looked it up and I guess Microsoft does not allow an upgrade from XP to Windows 7 that preserves your files and programs. Frankly I doubt whether even a look at the back end would tell me if a site is advanced or not. Not kidding when I ask if ebay is an advanced site or dumbed down for all browsers? The most advanced sites I own in the sense of newest are child themes on wordpress, up to date but not what I'd consider advanced, but I wouldn't know. You program, my stuff is store bought plugins.

Phone-also use chrome but sometimes i click on something under General discussion , and it brings me to the LP home screen. It's probably due to one of AT T or Samsungs crappy updates.

ok...Todd I tried it and it works ...but never had to do it like that before...when I would do it before all I had to do was just go to the icons and click on what I wanted and it would go right were the cursor was....I didn't have to click on where the cursor ends now.....but I can live with doing it that way now till something else happens and changes it....lol .....see it works now....

I understand what you're saying, but please keep in mind that Lottery Post works best with IE11, so your instruction for people to purposely uninstall IE11 is not a good idea. If you can't find what is corrupted in your copy of IE11, I do understand you doing what it takes to get online. But, I just want you to know that it is not IE11 itself causing a problem. I use it all the time, and I'm on Lottery Post more than anyone.

Yes, it seems that the makers of the text editor have a minor bug that happens in IE and sometimes puts the emoticon in the wrong place. I'm sure they will fix it soon. In the meantime, if you just click your mouse exactly where you want the emoticon before inserting the emoticon, it will appear in the right place. My goodness, don't uninstall IE 11! Follow my earlier instructions to figure out what add-ons or toolbars you have installed that are giving you problems. Don't uninstall a vastly superior browser (IE 11) and go back to an older browser (IE10). That's like cutting off you arm because your nails have grown too long.

It is certainly possible for you to only see some problems on Lottery Post. This site uses some very advanced technology, and if you don't tend to use advanced websites often, you may only come across certain incompatibilities with older web browsers here.

onlymoneys fix worked for me ( I have win 7 too)

first uncheck auto updates (help in IE ...about internet explorer)

Go to..

control panel..

programs..

view installed updates..

Internet explorer 11..uninstall..

restart and it will load Internet explorer 10 (you don't have to reinstall it)

I haven't had a problem since

I like to install manually because if any problems you know when it happened, I missed this one

That's easy for you to say being a computer genius and all. I have a win 7 (because win 8 won't run some of my 32 bit software) computer sitting next to the desk 4 gigs of memory (7 won't use all of in 32) 2 TB HD I can't bare to tackle the transfer and days of problems that will come with it.

The error I mentioned, only get it on LP, wouldn't mention it otherwise.

I agree with you, just wanted to clarify that updates wont always solve problems with java or other programs. You recommended to always install updates regulary which I agree, but if the topic creator had this troubles with java already I would suggest to start Java all over again. Toolbars I say is the most common problem people have with computers. Never install any toolbar is an easy way to avoid troubles.

If you stick with Windows XP and IE8 you will see those error messages more and more. Microsoft could not have made things more clear that they do not support Windows XP any more, and that you should not be using it.

The technology behind secure websites continues to change, but Windows XP and IE8 are not being changed with the new features. If you insist on keeping it, you will have to cope with annoying error messages and glitches.

I never said that somebody got into trouble with Java. I said that as soon as you're notified of an update you should always immediately perform the upgrade. It takes just a minute or two. I'm not sure how you can possibly disagree with that. People who wait on updates to Java are putting themselves at risk.

Actually Todd i disagree. If you have started gotten trouble with Java, an update won' t help. Clean reinstall is much better. I agree that java isnt always needed. For some sites its needed, like our swedish taxdeclaration site...

I sincerely hope people do not confuse the browser with the operating system. IE 8.x.xxx ....11.x.xxx are internet explorer browsers. Windows Vista, xp, 7, 8 etc are operating systems. I hope this clears it up a bit for people who might have mistaken the browser designations for operating systems and vice versa because I was talking about browsers not operating systems.

I already wrote about this about two months ago or less, not sure. But eventually I figured what the problem was. I installed the latest version of I.E. and it gave me trouble on LP only. I then opened Chrome and LP ran smoothly. So out of curiosity I uninstalled the latest version of I.E. and installed an earlier version, and it ran smoothly. I still use Chrome as the primary, much faster. Now I only use I.E. for some things that Chrome lacks.

Good info Todd!!! I can vouch for the 4th DO on the list. I had that problem the last weekend of June and then again toward the end of July. Every thing worked fine in Chrome but nothing worked at all worked in IE or Google. I took my laptop to the geek squad, it was definitely corrupted. Not sure how it got that way though...

If you have Java installed, ALWAYS do the update, immediately. They have been putting out a lot of Java updates recently, so everyone sees that, not just you. Just keep updating it.

The only bad thing about the updater is that every time it tries to install a toolbar and change your search provider to Ask.com . Don't let it! It is very difficult to get all that stuff out of your system once it's installed. Just remember every time to un-check the checkbox for Ask.com (or whatever else they pu... [ More ]

Just so you folks know, Windows 8.1 is not buggy at all, and in fact runs Lottery Post better than any other Windows version out there. This is a classic case of hysteria made up by people who are not technically savvy, and attribute problems caused by installing a million bad software apps to Windows.

Try updating your browser to IE..11.X.XXXX where X= 0-9. IE..8.X.XXX is sort of ancient now. Also try compacting your registry. Hope that helps. 8.1 is known to be buggy but you already know that.

It closes my window on a daily basis and it started with the update,I didn't have it before.

I thought it was the ads loading but since you don't get them I don't know what it is.

I don't have the problem in any other site so I don't think it's our pcs

It is frustrating.....

since Dr doesn't have it I thought maybe Todd being from NJ didn't like PA people

LMBO...I know dr65...I empty my cookies everyday....but I only have this problem on LP...and I have the newest version of IE.....8.1....and my computer is only 1 year old...I shut my computer down every nite and it starts up every day fine it's just as the day goes on this happens...and you don't know when it will happen....so let's see how today goes...

Personally I'm not having problems with LP, it loads and responds how it should but maybe it is something

I was after trying to install some freeware that installed Blasteroids on my computer which I couldn't uninstall and it got worst when I downed Spy Hunter to get rid of it which wanted a $39 fee to work which was reduced to $10 and I also couldn't uninstall. I restored my computer to a restore point set last week before that crap was installed on my computer and that seems to have cleared it up.
