My father was a personal friend of a couple that won the Powerball some years ago. They told him that they religiously spent at least $200 per month on PB tickets, and that was when they were only a buck each.

I also read an interview within the last year of a guy who won the Mega Millions - he also played multiple numbers per draw.

For Powerball and Mega Million, a quick pick or play one set of numbers consistently is your only best bet. The matrix sizes are too big for any system to help reduce the odds.

I don't play MM or PB when the jackpots are below 100M. When the pot is between 100 and 399M, I'll play one self-pick and one quick-pick per draw. If the pot hits 400M, I'll play two self-picks and three quick-picks per draw. If the pot hits 600M, I'll play five self-picks and five quick-picks per draw.

I used to sign my tickets but after realizing it was a waste of good ink, I decided to just keep them in a safe place instead. In an old thread here someone mentioned rubber stamping their tickets and I thought it was a brilliant idea. I never got around to doing it though

this is a falsehood ,for so many i am meeting who win premise on choosing our own combination(s)regularly.

Pick a lower odds straight up game without power/mega balls that doesn't draw daily or resolve not to play daily, only play on the days with higher returns.

Make a set of quality lines that include all the numbers.

Know enough about filtering to make at least a third of the lines 3/odd, 3/even, 3/low, 3/high, etc.

Exclude low odds combinational types that rarely hit, won't help you win, but at least you won't have high odds of already having lost before the draw is held. The large... [ More ]

Just play consistently,either once a month or once a week and you only need one ticket to win, if money is tight.

Set a budget and don't try too hard.

It's all a random game of chance whether you pick your own numbers or use a quick pick strategy.

We don't know how QPs are distributed and it's possibly different in each state because of the secondary prizes. The smaller states with smaller sales could lose their yearly profit if two or more players matched 5 + 0 in consecutive drawings. In the last $180 million jackpot, only 13 states had enough in sales to cover one 5 + 0 winner and only four had enough to cover two winners.

With over 18 million possible combos, I doubt if any of the Lottery directors are worried about having five QPs... [ More ]

Be interesting to see the result of all lotteries cancelled quick picks for a period. Something like No quick pick sales until the jackpot reaches $100 million.

1) Lottery sales would likely go down since quick picks are for those who don't have the time to fill out a playslip.

2) Likely mean more rolls between wins and maybe some larger jackpots.

Automating the terminals for player touch screens isn't the answer since people are not going to stand in line while some guy punches in 100... [ More ]

Small towns in California and NY probably had a jackpot winner or two and maybe one of these days someone from the Virgin Islands will win a jackpot. Not every drawing produces a jackpot winner so who knows if a small populated state could have won had they bought more tickets.

I'd say that luck has everything to do with it. Say you are one of the 70-80% of people who buy a quick pick. You have to be lucky enough to walk into the right store to buy a ticket before a winning draw at the right time that the machine is getting ready to spit out the winning combination. A few minutes or a few miles can make all the differnce in the world.

So who decides who gets that winning ticket? Luck, that's who.

I'm sure you realize that in all the world of gambling there is no bet that exists that the player is supposed to win.

Knowledgeable players are all aware of this while system sellers try to hide it and promote hype.

Of course more losers are computer picks, it's just a reflection of sales.

Regardless of the method of number selection, the fact that the six numbers a player picked were the six numbers drawn is pure luck.

Picking the Winning numbers always seems to be the best way to win the lottery, l have yet to hear of a better method.

The recent $180 million lottery winner from California said that he felt lucky before purchasing his ticket.. l can think of millions of other lottery player's that feel the same way about playing each and every time but it does not necessarily translate into winning the jackpot.

So does luck have anything to do with it

Some people pick a combo and play it fo ever. Some people play quick picks. Some people do workouts (research cold numbers, hot numbers) and play those. Some people do all three. I would advice quick picks because they are easy to do and win as often as other methods. good luck
