If you know Thrifty, you'd realize he writes about JP games, not scratch-offs. People who play Scratch-offs incessantly are in a whole other class of players. Even you said that they won't play a p-3 or p-4 game .

don't know about that Thrifty I've been in the store and saw a many come in and spend a butt load on scratch offs ......day after day........ but will not buy a pick 3 or pick 4 ....I will spend 5 on this new game I guess I got a gambling problem.........lol

I've cut back on my lottery playing too. I normally spend $6/week on tickets, with $2 of that going into a pool of Powerball/Lotto/MegaMillions tickets that would be split between 11 people if we win. I also buy a Lotto and an Easy5 ticket for myself twice a week. I only play MegaMililons and Powerball when they break $100 million, like now.

Let's see where I made a mistake. There are 70 numbers that can't be drawn and those numbers create 12,103,014 five number combinations. There are 14 bonus numbers that won't be drawn making 169,442,196 combos when multiplied by 14 that won't match a single number.

That's why scratch-offs have high percentage payoffs and MM and now the Monopoly game have those prizes. It's called making a profit. If a business doesn't make a profit, there's no point in being in business.

In my business, a store has to make at minimum a 40% mark, or there is not enough profit to pay the help, pay the bills and still keep the doors open. Really, a 50% mark is where we have to be to be financially healthy.

It's not charity. Profit is not a dirty word.

The lottery cannot survive by paying back only 50% in prizes to lottery players. I think that Monopoly Mollionaires' Club payout in prizes is 60%. The lottery should pay back 70% in prizes to lottery plsyers.

Possible reason: whenever there is a winner, the lottery doesn't have to wait for ALL the states to report their sales....just the one(s) with winner(s). When there isn't a winner, the lottery has to wait until all the states report to make sure that indeed, there is no winner(s).

It is actually almost known instantly every time, but the lottery has to do their due diligence in verifying from all the states and vendors. Then again, they and the states are often slow at updating their website.... [ More ]

I notice that right after the PB and MM draws if there is no jackpot winner, it is stuck on pending for 2 hours, but when there is a winner, it is known instantly what state the winner is in.

Lets seeeee, if I spend $1 for MM and $2 for PB 2 times a week that comes out to $6.00 a week.... annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd I do that for 52 weeks... soooo 6 x 52 = $312.00 a year......so if my math is correct and we have 365 days a year...that equates to just under .86 a day

I've done the math on hitting a lottery jackpot, and here is the truth:

You could buy 50 tickets per week for the next 70 years of your life, and you STILL would have, by any practical measure, ZERO chance of ever hitting the jackpot.

By any practical measure - what do I mean by that? Well, in the case of the PowerBall, it would take you almost 1,000 lifetimes of that sort of excessive waste just to expect to hit the jackpot once. It's simply never going to happen.

The computer chooses from the same set of numbers as a human. Winning is still matter of pure luck...regardless how the numbers are chosen or who does the choosing. You can still wheel, it would just take more tickets to cover all the bonus balls. Most people wheel the main set. This isn't really the ideal game though because like you said it is cost prohibitive. This game is more of the buy one and done type, so not being able to wheel as effectively is not much concern.

You're right. This does NOT sound like a wise investment of $$$ for a lottery game.

If I am reading this correctly, you pick 5/52 numbers, but The Monopoly property 1/28 number [which is like the Power Ball of this game] is a Quick Pick Only and will automatically generate on the ticket at purchase.
