This. That's the most reliable way to improve one's odds of winning something. But at a high cost of entry. If doing this, consider adding Power Play for $1 more per ticket - adds $35 more, raising cost to $105, but improves the payback percentage somewhat.

You cannot increase your odds of winning the Powerball as it is a mathematical formula base on the number of balls used in any given game , but you can increase your chances of winning as there are Combinations and Patterns in every Jackpot game.

Honestly, nothing but luck will help you win Powerball. There are what... 175,223,510 combinations. There is really nothing you can do to increase your odds unless you can buy a whole lot of tickets. Just buy a ticket or two and hope for the best.

if you buy 1 ticket, there is 1 in X chance, if you buy 2, there is 2 in X. thereby doubling your chances. the best increase you will get. over the initial one. which takes it from 0 on X to 1 in X. being an infinite increase.

California payouts for lower tier prizes are also para-mutuel. On an aside, that can lead to some lopsided payouts, such as a winner matching 5 (2nd place) getting well under $1 million or, conversely, as happened back on Aug-9th, one lucky winner getting over $7 million for matching 5 on a $2 ticket; CA has no Powerplay option.

With all that said, I'm not sure how the other poster won $5, since that was not a prize amount, and no combination of payouts would add up to that. But anyways, winn... [ More ]
