It'll be updated by Thursday. Take a look at it on Thursday and see if I'm wrong.

To me, it cant be more obvious. The opportunity to sell the most tickets exists in California simply because California is the most populated state in America.

Lottoluck777, Ca. buys more tickets, so they have more winners. I do believe that but, I also think that it should not matter with a national game. I don't have any charts in front of me right now, but If you add up the total number of sales of other states that would add up to be more tickets sold than Ca.. So with that in mind, it should not matter how many tickets sold in Ca., Florida or New York.

I'm trying my best to pull away from pb and mm. Because I to feel that everybody does not have the same chances of winning and that's my opinion. someone said one time that you have to be in the right place at the right time as far as buying your lottery ticket. I guess I look at all the tickets that have been bought across the United States and still some of the same places still are lucky enough to get the winning tickets or second tier.

Agreed, I have tried saying that some states haven't had a jackpot winner in years, and the usual ones get into a ball. Yet they try and convince others that everyone some how has an equal chance of winning...Of course some of us know that is BS, some will attack and harass for pointing some thing that is right in front of their faces.

Here's the same data with tickets sales and average number of tickets sold to produce a winner. I didn't bother with all of them, but here's the first 20 states on the list. The overall odds of winning PB are 1 in 31.85, so simple probability suggests that a winner would be produced for every 31.85 tickets sold. The actual range is from 1 winner for every 31.84 tickets sold (2 states are dead on) to 1 out of 34.16. All told there were 16,559 fewer winners that suggested by probability, which is... [ More ]

I understand that California is more populated, has more players, and therefore has more winners. It's just that some states haven't had a jackpot winner in YEARS. I was happy to see that NC had a million dollar winner last night. I just wish there were more second tier winners. Spread the wealth around, that's all!

Not looking forward to PB changing the matrix. There will be even less winners then.

Thanks for the replies every one.

It seems to be an inherent part of discussion boards that people will vent and post what they think things should be instead of going an extra step and looking them up. That's always kind of made me wonder. We have to be on the net to get to LP, so since some one is already on the net..........

Oh well.

Just looking at the chart CT made me wonder why CA did not have at the very least One 2nd place winner. Then it dawned to me that we have resigned ourselves to the fact that we rather have the whole enchilada.

I cant understand why people do not understand that it's simply a function of where the most people live. California is the most populated state in the union, followed by Texas, New York and Florida. Notice all of those states sell more tickets than most other states?

It's a lot like the electoral college... The states with the most people have the most influence (votes) in Presidential elections. And, the states with the most people have the most Representatives/Congressional districts in T... [ More ]
