People like to say otherwise but the truth is this: Money can bring happiness. Period. Anyone claiming otherwise is delusional. Notice I didn't say money WILL bring happiness. Most people are unable to find or be able to seek out true happiness BEFORE their winning...so money will only mask the problem AND combined with most lotto winner's terrible financial management...they are likely to be less happy.

Money wont bring me happiness , the things I can do with that money will probably do.

I just graduated college and I'm looking for a job , while stuff is nice what I want more than anything is the stability that having money in the bank could provide for me and my family. Not having to worry about rent , utilities or food would be pretty awesome. Having seen my single mom cry because of bills have really push me to want financial stability above all.

Happiness is a characteristic trait a frame of mind. Only the person who already has it is can increase in their live. The only satisfaction this could bring me is knowing I've done something well it could open up the options to give more to the causes I believe in already and to the charities I give to already. Happiness doesn't come from money. Satisfaction is from a job well done. Will a win bring you happiness or satisfaction is up to you. It would allow me to buy the little farm, I have always dreamed of and the far work will give me satisfaction. So, for me, yes a win would bring satisfaction. Having grown up on a farm, and lived in the city, I prefer the farm life

If you're dead, then your state of happiness is a moot point.

I had a friend who worked for a lottery winner as a private companion / health care worker. The winner had come down with a degenerative disease. Her take was that it was a pretty sad he won all that money and was now sick. She made some comment about the lottery curse. I thought she was nuts. It's an old joke, but while it's true money can't buy happiness, you can definitely afford to rent it after winning a JP. Sure, I'll worry about the crazies and nutjobs at first, but if someone tries to break into my home for money that's not there but in the bank, I will have an unpleasant surprise for them. I've got happiness. Satisfaction.. yes, but not where cost of living is concerned. There's a lot I worry about now and in the future that centers around money. To take that burden away is what a lottery win would do for me. I've got plenty of 'things'. I don't have financial security. I'd like for my children to not have to worry about finances either. Or my siblings. To take away those worries would bring more happiness into my life.

I agree. When someone is stressing over how to pay the bills, buy food, pay the rent, pay off medical bills etc., that definitely can cause a lot of unhappiness in someone's life. A lottery win would solve a lot of problems that many people have and would help with someone living a happier and less stressful life.

Like the saying goes. I'd rather be rich and unhappy then broke and unhappy.

That's my view. Those people who can't find happiness and satisfaction with a boatload of money have never been broke.

Let me win so I can find out! I am thinking satisfaction. There is more happiness in helping others.

Helping family, friends, church, wounded military and some feel good paying it forwards.

if you were happy and content b4 winning you'll find self equally happy and more then likely better off or fall flat on you face if you weren't

for me it would probably be a mixed blessing at best or early tombstone

as for driving over priced cars and trucks I still doubt I'd waste the money

Yes for some people, no for others.

We've seen in in plenty of winners, they come into a lot of money and they blow it all away or they get into hard drugs.

Others, like Cynthia Stafford, did great things with her winnings. And like her, I expect to help family with the winnings as well as helping others, both with money and the time the winnings has afforded me. Money can only give you the opportunity to be happy but there are zero guarantees in life. You could have a billion dollars in the bank and you could be driving around in your 2 million dollar Bugatti Veyron and then get crushed to death by a falling airplane. You think it's impossible? It almost happened to a taxi driver today in Taiwan.

I just read on Yahoo! News that the guy who Drenick1 was asking about was found dead. He was the old man from Michigan who won $20,000 not too long ago. Rest in peace sir.

A lotto win can bring pain n misery and even death more easily than it can bring satisfaction.

I don't think you are really forced to make a living in society. But you have to survive somehow. And the are other options. Imagine If no one worked, then civilization would never advance cause nothing would get done. We would probably still be living in the stone age. But I get your point. I also live in the city and would rather live somewhere more secluded like the country side, or have a house on a lake. And having money does make a lot things in life easier. I would like to think that I would keep it simple and try to find happiness that way. When I think about getting a windfall, I try to imagine what it would be like living in my current house without a mortgage and setting up an modest annuity that replaces my current income for years to come. And I could get there with millions and not needing tens- or hundreds- of millions.

I'm with you on this, but another factor is the notion of to doing things on my on terms. Another reason I want to win is to get away from it all. I'd buy a house in some remote land with lush forest, lakes, ponds and a waterfalls. In society we are forced to make a living, so winning would erase a lot of the worries, paying of debts, helping family, friends, etc. My folks are on the verge of bankruptcy due to medical bills. When I was younger, I used to think that making a ton of money was all that mattered in life. To be able to buy a mansion filled with a bunch of toys and tacky junk. A giant pool in the back yard and having a string of exotic cars filled the driveway. Now as I got older and matured, none of that stuff matters to me anymore.
