We all have the option to rate any thread from 1 to 5 stars and it defeats the purpose if we don't have a choice of how we rate. If rating every thread with 1 star is childish, rating every thread with 5 stars is just as childish.

IMO, complaining how other LP members use their membership options is very childish.

I can appreciate the fact Jani, took the time to do this thread. It enlighten me. I real didn't know it is two separate scoring systems. Before she did this thread, T.T.P. Tag Team get two one star ratings. Since it more then one person working on that forum, we have to be sharing the star. before this thread, I took it to mean, that the two viewers that give the [1] star rate, must apparently be experts so they have no need for the work we show. I never rate a thread....but i will comment on a thread...just like what you done, you want to show what a rating of 5 stars ...its all ego.

I agree. I never rate threads using stars. There are members (one of whom is finally banned) who would just go from thread to thread and rate them 1 star. Thought it was cute. In reality they only show how juvenile they are.

If I like a thread I will comment on it. If a thread doesn't interest me, I just move on without comment. It's very easy.

Usually I don't rate a thread using the stars. If I find a thread interesting (like this one ) or deserving to be criticized then I do so by commenting on it. I find it more useful for the OP to leave words that they can read and understand without ambiguity of stars. Maybe if each comment could get a star rating then I'd be more willing to give those.

IF you have permission from a website, you can copy and paste an image directly into a post. That's often called hotlinking and unless you have permission, it's theft and is also often copyright infringement. The best thing to do is create an account at an image hosting site, upload the graphic you want to post in here and use the HTML code supplied by the site in your post. I wasn't going to post anything and just give it a 2 star rating. That's how I feel... Now it's obvious that a low star rating irritates you enough to bring it up, but I still will not express what I wanted to say in the first place.

Personally I think the ratings hurt certain threads. People may ignore threads with no stars whereas it may contain some great information. Or they may ignore threads with 1 or 2 stars for the same reason.

What's important to one person isn't to someone else.

And yes, Coin Toss is right about the spiteful 1 star-er's. That's not fair and brings ratings down on a perfectly good thread. I appreciate 5 stars but, you know,if people want to read my threads or your threads they will anyway. And... [ More ]

Up until now. My idea of giving the predictors good rating was too add their threads or works to my favorite list. Guess that not really good for them. If I didn't appreciate and enjoy their work , they wouldn't make my favorite list. If it makes it better for them to rate them by stars, so be it. From this point on I will.

Maybe anonymous ratings are a good idea, I'm not sure though. As is right now, and not just predictions but threads in general, there is a small contingent of people that give nothing but 1 star ratings for spite and no other reason. Most of the people who do this have themselves never started a thread and that speaks volumes.

They don't even get as far as content but stalk certain posters, see the name as starting a thread, and 1 star is given. Sad really, if that's all a... [ More ]

Here is the thing, and I have thought this from the very first implementation of the 5 star system. It should be anonymous. You would get a much truer representation of the threats. Every post I have seen is either 5 stars or none. Why? Because if someone doesn't find it as useful they will not give it any rating at all the way is stands now. The stars are here to rate also, they are two separate means of scoring, if not Todd would not have added them here for the forum........It's one thing to show your numbers and it's another thing to show your work as to how you came up with those numbers too help others learn how to do it for themselves, Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. - there are some individuals on here that want to teach and should be rewarded for there excell... We have predictors that enjoy predicting and posting there hard work here, the least that we can do as viewers is to let them know how they are doing by rating there work.

this rating tells them that you like what they are doing and would like them to continue or that they could elaborate more on there work for you, when you rate you ask for more of what you want to see from this predictor.
