Oklahoma has 5/36 pick-5 Cash 5 game with a tax free $25,000 jackpot, a free ticket for matching 2, $10 for matching 3, and $500 for matching 4 numbers. With Hot Lotto, PB, and MM, that game IMO is a perfect fit.

I think throwing all the hits into one big pile and calculating the prediction statistics can be misleading, anyone can be a top predictor by only predicting the games with the lowest winning percentages. Before Todd changed the calculation formula the same thing could be accomplished by posting prediction for WV Cash5 because its 6/25 game was calculated like other 6/49 games.

You're only getting a 17.78% hit ratio out 180 predictions meaning the obvious; the quality of hits is more important than the quantity.

It also means 77.78% of all the combinations win nothing so the real trick is to avoid playing those combos.

The overall win average is 4.5%, 100%/4.5% comes out 22.2222222 no matter how you pick your numbers, the trick is to do better than the normal overall win percentages.

I don't play the game, I just posted some combinations I got from the LP RNG to improve my overall prediction stats after seeing that was what Stack was doing. Besides All or Nothing isn't available in Ohio. I usually play my predictions and I did play my PB predictions and match a 0+1 for $4.

I checked Friday's prediction results and I matched 11 in Texas All or Nothing Night for $500, all my other matches were 4's and 8's for prizes of $2.

I didn't check the actual numbers I predicted because I used the LP RNG to produce them but the board not only showed I up my percentages for the month but I also made a profit. If that game ever come to Ohio I'll have to study it closer to see if I could make a profit playing it.

I predict All or Nothing too and average about a 22% hit ratio because of the wheel I use. The 22% is a trade off because most the wins are the cost ($2) of a ticket. It's one of those games where winning the jackpot might be the only way to show a profit.

If players just want a hit once in a while, even if it's only $1 Rolling Cash5 (5/39) is a good game to play. So are those All or Nothing games, I raised my 30 day hit ratio on the prediction board to 10% by prediction 40 lines for one of those games yesterday.

Some states have 5/39 rolling cash games that count on the jackpot not being hit every drawing. Considering the 1 in 575,757 chance doesn't produce lots of jackpot winners, we shouldn't very many winners in games with at least a 1 in 175 million chance.

PB gives about a 1 in 5 million chance of winning $1 and for wagering 50% more, players can double that with PowerPlay. Not the greatest of odds, but something to think about.

Some are saying they play because somebody is going to win , but not very many drawings produce jackpot winner. In 2014 only 11 PB drawings produced a jackpot winner.

I play the lottery because I hope I'll get super lucky one day and win. But I don't hold my breath because I know that it's a sucker bet.

All I do know about playing is I will never win if I don't play, so I give myself a miniscule chance by buying tickets. And I play games that have smaller jackpots more than I play MM or PB. If I was ever so lucky to win one million (which really would be less than a million due to state and federal taxes) I'd be very happy.... [ More ]

Most states offer jackpot games with million dollars plus jackpots with odds of 1:14M or better, it just that the arrogant and greedy players fell they are entitled to win a whole lot more. It's still dreaming to play those games but they produce more jackpot winners.

I don' think it's stupid to wager $1 or $2 hoping to win several million, but because of the huge odds against winning a jackpot, the huge majority of players are just buying a dream.

The best odds players got in a long time was when 1 out of every 63,175,082 PB tickets was a jackpot winner.

It's not stupid to play the lottery if one plays with the hope of winning a jackpot.

If one plays and becomes obsessed and buys more and more and more tickets per draw because they just know they are going to win a jackpot that's another story.

Anyone remember the couple in Pennsylvania some years ago that sold everything they had and mortgaged their house because they knew they would win? I think they just about broke even but of course had to start all over from scratch.

Well, if you spend money you can't afford chasing Mega Millions/Powerball then yeah it's kind of stupid. But spending a couple of dollars for a chance to win (even if you probably won't) isn't a big deal. People obviously do win so it's worth it to most players.
