MM only rolled to $59M last night, if nobody win PB tonight it will roll to $60M. It will be interesting to see if MM can tie PB in Tuesday drawing by rolling to $70M.

As I predicted PB sold just over $24M worth of tickets last night, if this trend continues MM and PB jackpots could be close for another roll or two which would make MM tickets more attractive IMHO.

The odds with 2 MegaMillion tickets of winning a million dollars is 1 : 9,246,000

The odds with one Powerball ticket of winning a million dollars is still slightly better at 1 : 5,154,000

Odds of matching MM 5 of 5 are 1:$18.5M spent

PB may have better odds of matching 5 of 5 but they are only twice as good when you consider the price of the tickets. That's probably why PB is planning to change its matrix next month.

The MM odds for matching 5 of 5 white balls are ~1:18.5M

The PB odds for matching 5 of 5 yellow balls are ~1:5.2M

It's easy to see why PB is the go to game if you can afford $2

I haven't played either MM or PB that much lately. If either one starts getting up there, I might buy a ticket or two, but I don't like to spend more than $10 per week on the lottery, so I usually spend $5 on Wednesday and $5 on Saturday on Hoosier Lotto. Hoosier Lotto is $11M and since Hoosier Lotto doesn't have a very good cash option I would take the annuity. Here are the 30 payments I would be looking at if I win on Wednesday(before taxes).

01) 196,131.09

02) 203,976.33

I'm playing both because I got a line for each game covering 7 advance draws (max allowed in MA). If I was forced to choose between the two I'd choose PB. It churns out more millionaires than any other game in the US.

I think it will level off. PB is higher wager but better odds, MM is lower wager and lower/worse odds.

They will start growing slowly, but the PB will grow faster and people will switch over when the MM jackpot is lagging behind.

I'm buying one ticket for MM and one ticket for PB. I always megaply MM, and this time I'm going to powerplay PB, which I rarely do, but since the jackpots are not very high, I'll shoot for second prize of at least $2 million.

The last time PB jackpot was at $40M, they sold $29,011,614 worth of tickets, I think they will sell a lot less for next Wednesday drawing.

Now that both PB and MM are starting the week with almost identical jackpots and very similar odds of winning MUSL will get a chance to see if ticket prices really matter.

For me it does and I will only be buying MM tickets since I'll get twice as many chances for the same price and better overall odds of winning something.
