It has been a while i bought a whole roll or the book at a raffle. I had bagged the second prize and a consolation gift and lost about $80 on the whole. Since then I quit buying books of tickets and choose specific numbers. But there is a cuz who still buys books quite often and we play syndicate in good anticipation sometimes.

Unless you hit a big one you will usually always lose buying a book. When I buy a book for 30 $20 tickets I usually know I am going to lose $250. I am willing to risk that $250 going after a top prize. Only play books where ALL of the top prizes are still unclaimed or a higher percentage are out there in relation to tickets sold. This will slightly tick up your EV if you eve... [ More ]

I bought a whole roll of Lady Jumbo Bucks ($3) and won 28 out of 100 tickets for a total of $178. I lost $82 :( I cashed in $40 off of some other scratchers I got today and ended up only paying $260. This sucks. The odds were good (1:3.69) and less than half the prizes were claimed.
