Well I still say buy the Fantasy Five (or your states equivalent) since the mega or superball tends to skew the odds off into the universe.

Personally, to win $50,000 and up (based on the rollover) with better odds than Mega Millions or Super Lotto seems a much better plan.

I would rather have a shot at something, than a snowball's chance.... (besides 50 k is much better than a poke in the eye

OMG....I never sat down and did the math. Thanks Murgatroyd. So they drew 10 winners I believe to fill up the TV show but those are still pretty long odds. So to do it once that was pretty amazing, but the second time...wow. She is one of those people who seems to hit no matter what.

The number of entries received are posted on the winners page.

Superlotto averages betw 9-11 mil.

Scratchers around 10-12 million

Fantasy 5 around 150,000-170,1000

The scratcher end of game draws which are the big jackpots are of course being phased out, have much smaller number of entries..

The last end of game jackpot I thought I had a fair shot at it but alas, as it often happens, it went to the registered sex offender.

I've stopped buying scratchers.

Interesting. I asked my friend after I saw your response. She was told the same thing by California lottery officials when she went up. They did not tell her the number of entries, but they said there was over $250,000 worth of postage on the letters they drew from. She asked in 1987 and I don't recall what the price of a stamp was then but that is a heck of a lot of second chance entries.

Thanks for the response.

I have a close friend who joined the drawings for a second chance in the California lottery. The first time was a promotion where you sent in three losing scratchers and they drew people to go on the Big Spin tv show. She went up to Sacramento (where it was filmed in those days) and she spun the wheel and won $10,000. She then started entering online for the Fantasy Five second chance drawing. Nearly ten years to the day she was drawn again (both in the month of August) and this time she played
