Man, I've thought about this on and off for a long time.

There are times, like yesterday, if I won a jackpot, I would be gone from my job so fast I wouldn't even bother to say bye. I like the people I work with, it's the occasional idiotic customer that drives me insane.

But, the smart thing would be to bide my time, get my affairs in order, and make a graceful exit, so no one would suspect I won.

Oh well, back to reality. Gotta win it first.

That's kind of my situation now with work. I'm being asked to do things I don't agree with or can't be done and it's really getting to me. I've been in my current job for 10 years and department 14 years, while my manager was hired from the outside with little experience in what we do, has only been there a couple of years, and is running our department into the ground.

Point Taken TSC- However l have yet to read of any jackpot winner giving two weeks notice after bagging a sizeable jackpot.The $170 mil MM winner last year from Socal threw in the work towel the following day, as did that project Mgr from Minn who was part of a 3 way split jackpot . So agree with this. I know someone who was being harassed constantly over a 3 million dollar win. Co-workers friends family etc, all from different directions. And when he said no, the ugliness came out.

Your very lucky if you can pull that off. Often the 'worst' in people come out when they know you have a lot of money. Even the nicest of people turn bad when they think they are 'owed' or 'due' something. I have seen this happen MANY times and would not give them the opportunity. I would say goodby on good terms. Remember your life would be changed while theirs would be the same and that creates the animosity.

I wouldn't quit my job right away, but I would give my 2 weeks notice. I like everyone that I work with and when someone up and quits at my job, it screws everyone else over and makes more work for them.

During that 2 weeks, I can deal with my new found wealth and figure out what I'm going to do.

Ahhhh...I would call into work using the rest of my sick days. Then go in and quit! Wouldnt give a reason except to say I'm able to explore more opportunities in my life at this point. Or something like that. Though I would be nervous about quitting before actually confirming my winnings...

I handle millions of dollars on a daily basis and am crucial to day to day operations at work, so I probably would not call in sick. That would tip everyone off because I am too reliable

I think I would 'ease into' making plans for claiming etc. Would probably open a safe deposit box right away, make copies of everything etc. I do not want to claim the cash and not have a plan. As soon as the dough hits my bank account I would want to know exactly when and what it will be used for.
