Just got back from my retailer, she had a slip of paper printed out from the lottery that said the advanced draws should be back up and running everywhere by july 26th. So basically about 3 weeks from now, man was this a colossal failure...

PS, as I'm typing this, my local news has picked up on the powerball matrix change. Going into the commercial, they said it will be harder to win. Interesting...

Interesting conversation with a courtesy counter clerk and this one is very knowledgeable. She said all the stores got notification all lottery ticket sales will cease July 01 because of the budget. The budget was worked on into the wee hours of Sunday night and submitted to the Governor's office Monday but he DIDNT SIGN IT UNTIL TUESDAY. Welcome to Lottery Post Yogi. Guess you answered my question why Wa State Lottery website did not update any numbers for their state Lotto Game. I was wondering what happened. The Lottery must be low on their priorities. What a bunch of hogwash.

I bought 3 $10 match4 tickets today, went to check my #'s tonight and was told there was no draw ! Why would washington state sell tickets knowing there was no draw ? Somebody owes me a refund or $10,000 ! This could have been might day to win

Excellent question. I sometimes think about taking the annuity for smaller jackpots. For instance I currently have tickets in Floridia and they say that the lottery invests the money in the name of the state and then the state board of administration releases the funds to the winner when the investment matures. My guess would be if everything was shut down you would not get your money.

I think I am firmly in the cash camp again.

So what happens if you won the Powerball jackpot last year and went with the annuity? If the government hadn't reached a deal and the lottery was put on hold and lets say you were suppose to receive your next annual check on July 2nd....

How a state government shutdown will affect Washington s Lottery:

As of this communication, there has not been an agreement on the state budget. If a budget agreement is not reached by June 30, 2015, Washington s Lottery will halt operations.

Washington state budget agreement reached!

Early Saturday morning, it was announced that Gov. Jay Inslee and legislative leaders have made an agreement in principal on a two-year operating budget, a deal reached after months of debate.

This agreement ends the threat of a government shutdown on July 1

My post is a little confusing, sorry. It is the July 01 date that is the issue. the clerk told me they already got the notification that NO tickets are to be issued after JULY 01. It just so happened it is the date of the Powerball drawing. It is a budgetary issue and The Lottery is one of many programs to be shut down.

All the stories I am finding on line are about a week old and most say how the state will get this taken care of. Well guess what? THEY HAVE ALREADY CEASED SELLING TICKETS JUL... [ More ]

Went to go get PB and MM tickets for the coming Tuesday and Wednesday draws and I was told by the clerk she could sell me whatever I wanted BUT POWERBALL as sales have been stopped effective JULY 01. That was all she knows.
