Most people play quick picks, but I think the lottery would lose a significant number of players if the purchases had been restricted to only quick picks. Some players like to pick birthdays or numbers from fortune cookies. Honestly, most of the people who win the powerball jackpots won by quick pick anyway. I think the reason why most powerball wins were quick pick is not only because most ticket purchases are quick pick, but honestly, the game is so random that it is only fitting that a random... I often play both ways. From my experience, the few times I have hit is usually when I play my own numbers. Like the time I got 3+1 in MM, those were my numbers. I don't have a system to rely on. I usually play numbers that appeal to me at the time I'm buying the ticket. I've tried studying the past drawn numbers to predict what might be drawn to no success.

I like the look of that program. I hope I can download it and try it out. Thanks

I prefer to pick my own numbers using a program that uses a RNG but combinations not in the parameters I choose are filtered out. I could not look as all the combinations and a RNG is the only way to choose them. I'm still looking at about 5-6K of them randomly to pick 500 within those parameter from which to pick 10 to play.

While I have nothing against buying QPs, when I was playing 6/49 games, I looked at it like winning two 14 million to 1 drawings. But that's still less odds than the 258 million to 1 MM odds.

I don't see the relevance of 1 LP member out of over 167,000 saying they hate QPs , but then again it's much better odds than the minimum 175 million odds against someone getting a QP with the same numbers as a self pick.

Yes!!!! - You need to THINK SMART PLAY SMART. QP's are not the answer. Yeah I heard that 70-80 % of the players play QP's 70-80 % of the winners are QP's. My answer to that is: I rather be a Big fish in a small pond than a small fish in a Big pond.

MM ticket sales are around 15 to 16 million with start-up jackpots ($15 million) and increases less than $1 million every drawing, but sales spike higher around the $100 million jackpot. If there is a 50/50 ratio, it's probably with the smaller jackpots and the ratio begins favoring QPs as the jackpot grows. QPs are probably over 95% of ticket sales when jackpot frenzy begins. To my knowledge there are no published QP to self-pick figures so your guess is as good as CT's.

I remember seeing syndicate ads in the 2000's from groups in Canada that were selling shares for $8-10K. They didn't try to buy every combination but has a preparatory system that brought certain groups of combinations. I assume they went out of business since their ads stop appearing. There are still a few around that will e-mail you if you manage to get on a lottery player sucker mailing list.

IMHO the only reason there is a high % is because more folks buy a QP vs figuring out there own numbers If you have 100 people and 98 buy QPs and only 2 do their own numbers then duh.....lol but, if you take the same 100 people and have 50 buy QPs and the other 50 work on getting their own numbers I fell that margin of 70-80% will be reduced drastically

As far as that Aussie group, I'm surprised that didn't happened more often.

BobP can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe I saw lotto syndicate ads in Lotto World magazine. Robert Serotic was involved in syndicates and won 8 or 9 jackpots. They were similar to office pools with the exception the shares cost much more.

In the 80s multi winners were common in Ohio lotto and possibly because of syndicate play.

You seem to be missing the point. If a system actually worked the lottery would pay out more than probability suggests, and they would therefore pay out more than they budgeted for. LP had several articles about them too.

I thought of what they did more as a scheme than a system. They saw an opportunity and had the finances to take advantage of it. I would not play if quick picks were my only option. The work groups I play in are a function of whom ever is purchasing the tickets - so I don't have a say in how they are selected, but my 4 tickets each week (1 powerball each draw and 1 megamillions each draw) are self pick from a pool of 21 numbers that we (family) rotate between.

it would save me money. I keep playing the same numbers over and over again fearing that if I stop

It was THE ONE time I forgot to play PB. I retired that set of numbers but I still have 2 more sets. When the JP reaches $100mil I will also get a QP.

Today lottery terminals spit out Quick Picks from poor quality software programs. Over the past 10 years these programs have been dummed down

and the game matrix increased to mind blowing ODD's

It can be said, on the flip side of Quick Pick wins, that 70% to +80% of the Losers are Quick Picks.

But, then again, that information is not readily available and is very unlikely to be revealed by the wonder folks at your local lottery headquarters.

There is a benefit to only playing QPs: your numbers will never be drawn if you forget or don't play a drawing.

No, I only play QPs, gave up my own #s so I could skip games.

I remember when California lottery started you couldn't pick your own #s

not exactly a QP though, the tix were scratchers, don't remember but I think Pennsylvania Jersey did it the same way,

it was the easy way for them to get started.

Don't like it, but it could happen!

I wouldn't quit playing if the only choice was a QP but I'd sure play a lot less. I spend most of my money on numbers I've been playing for years and now I'm afraid to quit playing them lest they pop up and I have to kill myself.

I like oregon megabucks, mega millions and powerball. I usually play QP's for those games unless we get chinese food then I might add those numbers for oregon megabucks for a couple of draws and quit playing them. Then go back to QP's just to see if they are lucky for awhile.-weshar75

For pick 3? No. Quick picks are very good to me @ $1 str8 then copied 4 times more.

I'd very much miss choosing my own numbers to play. I'd miss the fun of workouts too.

For jackpot games? No. That's how I normally play except for Treasure Hunt. I like to

choose birth dates.
